    GSHPA's Camp Small Valley summer camp sessions allow campers to develop a strong sense of self and positive values, build healthy relationships, seek challenges, and have fun while making memories of a lifetime Working at Camp Small Valley is a unique experience that can have a positive impact on you for the rest of your life and your passion can make a difference in the lives of girls

    Current Positions Available:

    Unit Leader: 12-15 Age Focus

    Unit Leader:
    Counselor In Training, 14-17 Age Focus

    Unit Leaders are responsible for providing leadership, oversight and support to all staff and campers assigned to their unit, while promoting a positive camp spirit.


    For the campers:

    Unit Leaders oversee the orientation of all campers to camp, help girls plan their weeks and guide them through a week away from home.

    You are one of the camper's primary caregiver during their week long camp session.

    This means you ensure campers get up on time each morning, eat at each meal, have fun, participate in a variety of activities, and stay healthy, safe, and happy while at camp.


    For the assigned staff:
    Unit Leaders provide a supportive and welcoming presence in their assigned unit.

    They are integral part of the camp system which helps assigned staff work through problems and provide feedback to encourage continuous improvement.

    You must have the ability to learn new skills in many different areas and have a passion to work directly with campers.

    Due to close contact and overnight supervision of a Girl Scout youth population in this overnight setting, the Summer Camp Unit Leader must be female.

    Requirements
    Minimum 20 years of age, 21+ preferred.
    High school diploma or equivalent preferred
    Previous supervisory experience preferred.
    Experience in supervision of children required
    Girl Scout, Girl Guide, or similar experience preferred
    Camping or Summer Camp experience preferred
    Attend and complete pre-camp trainings.

    Demonstrated ability to motivate girls to participate in activities and lead activities in a flexible, professional manner and in accordance with GSHPA strategies.

    Ability to quickly respond to emergencies 24/7 when on camp property and follow GSHPA established emergency procedures.
    Willingness to live on camp for the entirety of their assigned camp season
    Full summer season - Begins in mid-June, about a week before camp is in session, and ends when camp sessions stop usually in mid-August (around a 8 week program)
    Ability to live and work in the outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
    Ability to walk a mile over uneven terrain.
    Must be able to pass required background checks.
    Required to submit to a drug test upon arrival at GSHPA Summer Camp. Any applicant who tests positive or refuses to submit to a pre-employment drug test will not be hired or will be dismissed from GSHPA employment
    Must present a current form of ID affirming female gender at time of hire.
