    Your Specific Responsibilities:

    The incumbent is a Licensed Practical Nurse whose functions will be: Providing childhood/adult and travel immunizations and participating in immunization outreaches under the direction of the Health Services Manager A-SES or Director of Nursing.Position is located at Specialty Care Clinic in Bartow, but incumbent may travel to cover immunization services at Lakeland, Auburndale and Haines City Clinic locations, as needed.

    Immunization Administration:

    • Assess, educate, and administer adult/childhood, and travel immunizations according to protocol for clients of all ages.
    • Provide counseling and teaching information about administered vaccines to client and/or client's parent/legal guardian.
    • Maintain proper storage and handling of vaccines per Health Department policy and procedures.
    • Accurately enter immunization history and immunizations given in Florida Shots and all other documentation required per Health Department policy and procedures for vaccine administration.
    • Order vaccines as needed, check expiration dates on vaccines and rotate as required.
    • Perform inventory and ordering of supplies and vaccines.
    • Perform end of the month vaccine inventory and submit report to Bartow Immunizations office/Supervisor.
    • Assist with teaching of immunization procedures to new nurses in the clinic, including the computer Immunization Module and all appropriate documentation.
    • Communicate and report any unusual symptoms/complaints of clients to supervisor, or clinic nurse, APRN, and/or physician.
    • Maintain accurate and complete medical records.
    • Provide documentation in EHR in accordance with Health Department standards/protocols/policies.
    • Clean work area according to clinic policy and biohazard waste policy.
    • This position may serve clients that speak only Spanish, Creole, or other languages. It may require performance of interpreter duties, if bilingual, or implementation of the Department's Limited English Proficiency Plan.
    • Maintains and submits time/attendance/travel/ EARs records.
    • Participate in orientation and staff development activities.
    • Performs other duties as required, including performance of additional interpreter duties, consistent with skill level, and as needed.
    • Participate in immunization outreach with Hepatitis Team, and flu outreach as scheduled.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of nursing principles and techniques.
    • Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
    • Knowledge of Florida SHOTs and required documentation
    • Knowledge of vaccine schedules/contraindications regarding children and adults.
    • Skill in the use of medical equipment & instruments used in providing routine or emergency nursing care.
    • Ability to demonstrate manual dexterity.
    • Ability to interpret and follow medical instructions.
    • Ability to observe patient's symptoms and reactions to treatment.
    • Ability to communicate effectively.
    • Ability to establish & maintain effective working relationships with others

    Qualifications:

    • This occupation requires licensure as a practical nurse in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code or 8.27.

    Emergency Duty: Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
