    Department Description

    The ACS Program supports foster youth in the custody of the Administration for Children's Services in New York City. Our program serves 130 youth ages 0-21+ and supports them with a multidisciplinary team that includes a Case Planner, Health Services Team, Psychiatrist, Behavioral Support Specialist, Fair Futures Coach, Foster Home Recruiter and Licensor and Clinician. Our therapeutic approach to foster care includes direct access to Clinicians and foster parents that are trained at a treatment foster care level implementing the Attachment, Regulation and Competency (ARC) framework. This makes a difference because our team approach provides a space for healing while providing skill building and future-focused planning for youth in our care.

    The Clinician will provide trauma-sensitive treatment planning and delivery to youth in the ACS Foster Care Program. The Clinician will provide an initial clinical assessment and ongoing support to the assigned youth, foster parent and biological family.

    How you get to use your skills...

    • Provide trauma-informed individual therapy, group counseling to youth, and family counseling to youth and their caregivers (biological parents, adoptive parents, and foster parents).
    • Carry a caseload between 18-25 youth, ages range from 3-21+ years.
    • Responsible for working with youth, birth families and/or permanency resources
    • Maintain contact with youth and families in the community, foster home, school, etc.
    • Responsible for completing treatment plans, evaluations, and screenings for youth as required.
    • Complete case summaries and/or court reports for youth to support permanency/placement goals.
    • Administer required behavioral and mental health assessments for youth.
    • Coordinate services for each youth in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.
    • Provide therapy during traditional and non-traditional hours including weekends and evenings.
    • Participate in 24-hour on-call rotation.
    • Participates in departmental, Integrated Team Meetings (ITT), case reviews and other meetings.
    • Attend weekly clinical team meetings.
    • Attend weekly staffing meetings.
    • Attend bi-weekly ARC consultation/refresher meetings.
    • Provide record keeping and documentation for all clinical activities (case documentation).

    Schedule: Non-Exempt

    • Regular hours entail Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, must be flexible to meet program needs
    • Must be available to work afternoons, evenings, holiday, and weekends as required
    • On-call required
    • License in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Creative Arts Therapy, or Mental Health Counseling with experience in strength-based family and children's services
    • One year of postgraduate direct service delivery experience preferred
    • Experience with a strength based, cognitive behavioral, and trauma sensitive approach to treating troubled youth preferred
    • Strong proficiency with completing the administrative components of treatment (case documentation) required.
    • Ability to handle confidential material in a responsible manner
    • Ability to work well with people from many cultures including recent immigrants, non-English speakers, and LGBTQ children
    • Bi-lingual - English-Spanish preferred
    • Valid NYS Driver's License preferred
    • Ability to travel to other agency location

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Computer work requires sitting at a desk for long periods of time
    • Time on your feet for up to several hours a day
    • Lifting up to 50 pounds
    • Travel within the 5 boroughs
