    Kern Community College District is soliciting applications for part-time, hourly adjunct instructors. The starting salary range is $60.00/hour; Hourly rate may vary based on type of assignment and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula. For more information, refer to the CCA collective bargaining agreement or your college HR office.

    Representative Duties

    This is a pool to fill part-time instructor positions for the academic year.
    The successful candidate will be expected to provide counseling services and serve as the Articulation Officer. The primary responsibility of the Porterville College Articulation Officer will include coordination of articulation functions between Porterville College and CSU, UC, Private Four-Year Institutions and other California Community Colleges. The assignment includes coordination of activities related to curriculum and curriculum development within the district and maintenance of files/documentation to assure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations that govern inter-segmental articulation of curriculum for transfer purposes. The Articulation Officer will assist the Curriculum Committee and campus departments with the cyclical updating and revision of course outlines and with the submission for acceptance of new courses being developed.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Facilitate and maintain articulation agreements with CSU, UC, California independents, and out-of-state institutions as appropriate.
    • Act as a resource for students, faculty, and staff on transfer curriculum, articulation, and related matters.
    • As the College Articulation Officer, serve as an advocate at the college for transfer students and, through the articulation process, facilitate a smooth transfer transition.
    • Serve on appropriate campus committees relating to curriculum, academic policies, catalog production, and others to provide input about curriculum and articulation issues.
    • Serve as the college liaison to the California Community College Chancellor's Office, the California State University Chancellor's Office, and the University of California Office of the President for articulation and curriculum issues.
    • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local policies, regulations and practices governing articulation.
    • Enter, submit and monitor program approval requests to CCCCO.
    • Report curriculum and program changes to the counseling division.
    • Attend the Curriculum Institute and all other relevant trainings.
    • Submit courses for CSUGE, UCTCA, IGETC, C-ID and general transferability; then create and update CSUGE and IGETC advising sheets for distribution and posting on the college website.
    • Manage and update campus articulation data. Participate in IGETC, CSUGE, TCA, ASSIST, C-ID, SB1440 degrees and other programs that support and facilitate articulation agreements and coordination.
    • Meet with faculty to discuss curriculum matters particularly course and program (degrees and certificates) development- new or revision.
    • Serve as a liaison between Porterville College faculty and
    • sending/receiving institutions.
    • Disseminate current and accurate articulation data to appropriate departments, faculty, and staff.
    Minimum Qualifications

    Master's degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, or career development and family therapy, or marriage, family and child counseling.

    OR - Bachelor's degree in any of the above and a license as a marriage and family therapist
    (MFT);

    OR - The equivalent. Certain combinations of education, experience, and other accomplishments in the field may be judged as equal to the stated minimum qualifications for these positions. Candidates who feel they possess such equivalent qualifications must request and submit an APPLICATION FOR EQUIVALENCE form. Supporting documents must be included with the completed form. Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administration in California Community Colleges

    AND - A demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

    Note: Degrees and credits must be from accredited institutions (Title V Section Any degree from a country other than the United States, including Canada and Great Britain, must be evaluated by an evaluation service.

  • Knowledge of and commitment to the California community college mission;
