    The Connecticut State Department of Education () is now accepting applications for an (ESS) for the Bureau of Child Nutrition Programs (CNP), Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer (SEBT) for Children program. The ESS is instrumental to the successful administration of SEBT benefits and maintaining program integrity.

  • THE ROLE This individual will administer the federal U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) SEBT program in the Bureau of Child Nutrition Programs in collaboration with the CSDE Performance Office and the Connecticut Department of Social Services (DSS).

    Our ideal candidate will have experience with marketing, communication, and/or outreach across print, digital, and social media with school districts or the general public. The preferred candidate will be bilingual in English and Spanish for reading, writing, and speaking.

  • PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

    In the Departments ofAging and Disability Services, Developmental Services, and Education assists inplanning and executing a program for the improvement of education in the state,responsible under supervision for carrying out specific assignments of limited difficultyand scope.

    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

  • Assists in the development and administration of educational programs and services offered by the state;
  • Provides professional leadership and guidance to school authorities, professional organizations, students and various community groups and individuals;
  • May personally administer certain phases of educational program within the framework of bureau policy;
  • May assist in directing the routine functioning of the bureau;
  • Performs related duties as required.
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

  • Knowledge of the philosophy and methods of education with particular reference to the field concerned;
  • Teaching skill;
  • Ability to prepare reports; deal effectively with others.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of professional experience.
  • Department of Aging and Disability Services: A Master's degree and three (3) years of professional experience.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience administering U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) school nutrition programs.
  • Experience analyzing federal policies and regulations.
  • Experience marketing nutrition programs through digital platforms.
  • Experience designing nutrition publications using publication software.
  • Experience with program evaluation of the USDA School Nutrition Programs.
  • Experience working with internal and external stakeholders.
  • SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

    Incumbents in this class in certain positions may be required to possess an appropriate certificate issued by the State Board of Education.
