With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

In this role, you will build and operate the scalable, reliable and high-performance metadata services that underpin all BigQuery operations. This team's core mission is to manage metadata for all BigQuery services and managed data sources at scale. You will be responsible for reliably storing, replicating and efficiently resolving this metadata while ensuring high performance, enterprise-grade features and a reduced operational burden.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

• Set and communicate team priorities that support the broader organization's goals. Align strategy, processes and decision making across teams.
• Set clear expectations with individuals based on level, role and alignment to the broader organization's goals. Meet regularly with individuals to discuss performance and development, provide feedback and coach.
• Develop the mid-term technical roadmap within the scope of your often multiple teams. Evolve the roadmap to meet anticipated future requirements and infrastructure needs.
• Define and execute technical strategy for achieving industry leading price and performance of SQL query processing for a variety of workloads, from Online Transaction Processing (OTLP) to hybrid transactional, problem solving multimodal queries that combine relational, graph, full-text and vector search criteria.
• Lead a team of 7-8 engineers across query planning and execution. Own performance and reliability goals inside spanner's distributed query engine.
