    Description

    Overview

    The Ohio Association of Broadcasters (OAB) is the trade association representing radio and television stations in Ohio. The OAB supports its member stations by offering advocacy, compliance, and training resources to serve local communities.

    The President plays a crucial role at the OAB, leading the organization with strategic vision, accountability for operations, and reporting to the Board of Directors.

    Key Responsibilities

    Advocacy

    • Oversee federal advocacy efforts, collaborate with Ohio's Congressional delegation and National Association of Broadcasters on policy issues, engage OAB members in advocacy, coordinate Capitol Hill visits, and work with FCC counsel on compliance activities.
    • Manage state advocacy activities by working with OAB's lobbyist, building stakeholder coalitions, and addressing Ohio General Assembly issues affecting broadcasters.

    Board of Directors

    • Act as the main point of contact for the OAB Board, present annual budget and plans, provide financial updates, prepare for Board meetings, and assist in recruiting new board members.
    • Represent the OAB and broadcasting industry in interactions with various organizations.

    Membership

    • Lead member programs and events, drive recruitment initiatives, and foster relationships with the next generation of broadcasters.
    • Maintain strong communication channels with members to ensure engagement.

    Operations

    • Oversee association and foundation operations, handle staff management, ensure compliance with bylaws and laws, and manage finances including budgeting, controls, and audits.
    • Manage the Public Education Partnership program, set revenue goals, recruit sponsors, and maintain sponsor relationships.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in communications, business administration, public policy, media, or related field.
    • Minimum 10 years of experience in association or broadcasting with at least five years in senior leadership.
    • Strong understanding of public policy, regulatory issues, and financial management.
    • Ability to travel for meetings and events.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

    This role is based at the OAB headquarters in downtown Columbus with 20% expected travel.
