    Position Summary:

    This is a field position working in Jacksonville, FL and may include occasional travel to Gainesville, FL.

    Come join IQ Fiber in this hands-on OSP position working alongside and closely collaborating with our construction coordinators and fiber splicers to activate OLT Cabinets and work as smart hands at co-location facilities for NOC and Tier 3 support.

    We are looking for someone with very strong customer service skills and exceptionally strong technical skills to work with a variety of network and FTTH devices. The ideal candidate will have a clear understanding of fiber optic designs and configurations.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Assist in planning and implementing service turn ups for commercial and enterprise network settings.
    • Configure, install, and maintain telecommunications and network devices that include switches, routers, OLT's and rectifiers.
    • Distribution construction, preventative, and demand maintenance.
    • Splice all types of CAT 5/6 cable and fiber optics.
    • Calculate QSFP power levels and verify proper light levels at equipment sites.
    • Conduct system tests such as OTDR readings, optical power level and BIP.
    • Provide level two technical support and "smart hands" for Network Engineers and serve as technical support to the Network Operations Center (NOC).
    • Act as "smart hands" for break/fix as s=well as optimization activities for network facing events.
    • Must clearly document, update, and follow the IQ change management policy.
    • Ability to clearly communicate with business clients, NOC, and vendors.
    • Follow the change management policy work as "smart hands and support" for firmware upgrades, patches, and equipment replacement.
    • Provisioning: Assist NOC and Network Engineers in provisioning equipment for both network and customer configurations.
    • Test and Turn Ups: Work with NOC, Network Engineers, and equipment vendors to test and turn up new OLT cabinets and co-lo's.
    • Lead and model effective troubleshooting systems as necessary in the restoration of plant issues.
    • Responsible for meeting QC standards as well as budgetary requirements.
    • Consult with other departments as necessary to maintain an in-depth technical knowledge of new technology being deployed.
    • Ensure constant compliance with OSHA safety standards.
    • Respond to the needs of a 24/7/365 operation.
    • Serve as on-call backup and respond to OSP needs in the event of a service impairment or outage.
    • Troubleshoot systems as necessary to define root cause and break-fix alternatives.
    • Clear understanding of fiber design, splicing matrix sheets and documentation requirements.
    • Other duties as assigned including non-technical and administrative/project management duties
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's or associate degree in engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
    • Must have knowledge of network architecture, troubleshooting techniques, splicing techniques, documentation necessary and end to end process.
    • Strong organizational and project management skills.
    • Proficient knowledge and experience with optical networks.
    • Strong knowledge of and experience with FTTH architecture, switches, routers and OLT's.
    • Must be able to work after hours and weekends. Remain in service during outages until resolved.
    • Ability to remain in a state of readiness to work service issues when on call. Readiness includes being in local market, be in a state of mind to perform service and having company provided communications equipment ready to receive calls.
    • Must be able to work emergency schedules during natural disasters and network outages.
    • Must be able to pass standard background check.
    • Must have valid driver's license with a clean driver's license.
    • You must have close vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust your focus with good hand-eye coordination.
    • Computer skills to sufficient to process trouble tickets.
    • Mid-level experience using Excel and Word.
