- Request, review, and analyze complex medical documentation as related to the provisions of care delivered by health care providers in all health care settings. Evaluate the implementation of the standards of care.
- Serve as a resource for the MFCU staff by explaining medical terminology, medical procedures, expected standards of care, and differing responsibilities of health care providers. Provide information regarding the implementation of the provisions of care/standards of practice in health care settings. Provide detailed written and oral reports. Assist investigators and prosecutors as a medical resource.
- Assist attorneys in case preparation.
- Prepare and perform outreach presentations for other state and law enforcement agencies, long-term care staff, and the public regarding the mission of the MFCU to increase awareness and potential referrals of abuse, neglect, exploitation, and fraud cases.
- Work closely with the other state agencies to coordinate investigations, generate referrals, and to establish relationships to promote the mission of the MFCU.

NURSE ANALYST
Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin is seeking to hire an experienced RN to work as a Nurse Analyst. The Nurse Analyst works as part of a dynamic team with attorneys and investigators to evaluate medical records in fast moving cases involving abuse, neglect, and exploitation of residents in health care facilities. The analyst may also work with prosecutors of the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) on nursing-related issues.
Essential job functions include:
Review and evaluate allegations of abuse and/or neglect of residents in health care facilities and the circumstances surrounding the events to determine if further investigation is warranted.
Additional duties and responsibilities may be added at the discretion of the supervisor and/or Deputy Attorney General.
Job Requirements – Education and Experience
Minimum requirements:
Graduate of Registered Nurse program from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Must possess a current Arkansas license issued by the Arkansas Board of Nursing to practice as a registered nurse and must be in good standing.
At least two (2) years' experience as Director of Nursing in a long-term care facility; minimum of five (5) years' experience as a Registered Nurse.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment. Must be resourceful, enthusiastic, and able to demonstrate initiative. Must possess strong communication skills, both oral and written. Must be detail-oriented, work well under pressure and possess the ability to multi-task.
Experience in the following areas is preferred:
Experience in a variety of patient/resident care settings (long term care, assisted living, home health, hospice, hospital, group homes, e.g.).
Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations related to health care and health care facilities, particularly in the Medicaid program.
Experience in nursing administration: Director of Nurses, Nursing Administrator, Nurse Supervisor, Charge Nurse, Risk Manager, Quality Assurance Manager, e.g.
Experience as a legal nurse consultant.
Certified professional coder.

Summary
The Nurse Analyst shall serve as a clinical resource to attorneys and investigators pertaining to maltreatment and abuse cases, Medicaid fraud cases, and other related matters.
Functions
Review and conduct analysis of records and documents pertaining to complaints of abuse, neglect, and exploitation in Medicaid-funded and other care facilities, as appropriate. Interpret and apply regulatory guidelines (state and federal) and standards of nursing care to case analysis and case summaries. Prepare nursing summaries and chronologies. Conduct medical/nursing research as needed. Assist with healthcare fraud cases and make determinations based on criteria relevant to fraud investigations. Apply clinical knowledge and experience by interpreting medical records. Prepare charts, graphs, and other demonstrative exhibits to illustrate findings in cases. May prepare trial exhibits as well as serve as an expert witness at trial. Attend medical board meetings and other professional board meetings as needed. Attend trainings to stay current with trends and information regarding nursing and medical care. May provide training as needed. All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Arkansas license as a Registered Nurse in good standing.
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Director of Nursing in a long-term care facility, or a minimum of five (5) years of experience as a nurse in a long-term care facility, or similar long-term care setting.
