Our consumers engage with a range of therapists and Transitional Living Services staff to acquire independent living skills that enable them to thrive in the community.

    Job Summary

    We are currently looking for multiple Registered Occupational Therapists (OTR) to work on a per diem basis in various regions: Wichita, Lawrence, Topeka, Manhattan, Overland Park, KS. The ideal candidate will adopt a holistic approach that addresses the social, emotional, and physical impact of injuries on individuals. OTRs collaborate with consumers to establish therapy goals related to balance, motor skills, posture, and cognitive abilities within the context of daily activities. Occupational Therapy assists individuals in enhancing their independence by regaining essential physical, perceptual, and cognitive skills required for daily living activities. OTRs also supervise occupational therapy assistants.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Embrace and incorporate Minds Matter, LLC's core principles into all service delivery aspects.
    • Review, co-sign, and provide feedback on therapy assistants' daily notes.
    • Assist individuals in identifying their needs and developing suitable compensatory techniques to address the effects of brain injuries.
    • Conduct evaluations to assess consumers' physical and mental capabilities, analyze medical data, and determine optimal therapy approaches.
    • Complete necessary documentation per the individual's care plan, such as evaluations, progress notes, and letters of medical necessity.
    • Integrate employment, education, and independent living goals into therapy sessions.
    • Collaborate with consumers and fellow staff to evaluate goal achievement.
    • Participate in team meetings and aid in goal establishment with consumers.
    • Deliver services as outlined in each consumer's care plan.
    • Recommend adaptive equipment, home modifications, and community integration strategies.
    • Work directly with consumers to enhance skills related to their life objectives.
    • Document goal-oriented, concise, and factual session notes promptly after each service.
    • Educate families and caregivers on brain injury consequences and techniques, and communicate progress effectively.
    • Attend training sessions to stay updated on best practices in the field.
    • Foster professional relationships with consumers, colleagues, and community partners.
    • Support public relations efforts for the program at the agency and in the community.
    • Participate in agency and interagency task groups as needed.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
    • Provide care for Minds Matter LLC's issued iPad and iPhone.
    • Maintain confidentiality of protected health information as per HIPAA regulations.
    • Possibly lead a consumer's team, updating goal plans and meeting records with progress and adjustments.

    Qualifications and Skills

    • Demonstrated ability to teach individuals with disabilities.
    • Effectively mentor therapy assistants with clear guidance and feedback.
    • High level of empathy for all individuals.
    • Professional communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong time management abilities and adaptability between tasks.
    • Creativity in problem-solving.
    • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
    • Adherence to deadlines.
    • Basic to moderate proficiency in technology, particularly using an iPad for medical records.

    Education and Experience

    • Completion of an occupational therapy program from an accredited university.
    • Current licensure in the state of Kansas.

    Requirements

    • Physical capability for lifting consumers with specific needs.
    • Effective verbal communication and listening skills.
    • Basic reading and writing proficiency.
    • Basic knowledge of iPad operations.
    • Reliable transportation.
    • Regularly check voicemail and email communications.
