Perinatal Sonographer - Greensboro, United States - Cone Health
Description
Overview:
This role involves conducting perinatal and other diagnostic ultrasound exams while upholding regulatory and professional standards. The ideal candidate must possess strong decision-making abilities and effective prioritization skills. Building close collaborative relationships with Maternal Fetal Care and Radiology management, as well as medical staff, is crucial for delivering cost-efficient and patient-centered care. Responsibilities include administering ultrasound procedures following approved workflows and procedural protocols for Maternal Fetal Care and Radiology, along with in-depth knowledge of ultrasound equipment, structured reporting, and image management (PACS).
Talent Pool;Allied Health Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine and special ultrasound examinations in line with established protocols for MFM and Radiology.
- Demonstrate proficiency in conducting procedures such as Chorionic Villi Sampling, Amniocentesis, Amnio-reduction, and Fetal Doppler flow studies. Acquire and uphold additional certifications as mandated by leadership, for instance, CLEAR certification. Stay updated on policy and procedure changes and contribute to maintaining the American Institute of Ultrasound Accreditation.
- Ensure completion of all exams and documentation in CHL, PACS, and the OB/GYN reporting system. Accurately identify charges associated with exams, rectify errors, and address issues concerning the final product sent to PACS.
- Demonstrate a steadfast commitment to safety practices and Just Culture. Employ Two for Two for precise patient identification, follow procedures to prevent laterality errors, reduce falls, and adhere to ALARA principles. Embody the use of AIDET, service excellence, and service recovery.
- Must be available to work across all clinical sites covered by department sonographers. Assist with patient transport when necessary.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:REQUIRED:
- Associate's Degree OR Bachelor's Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography from a CAAHEP-accredited institution (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs). A combination of education and experience will be considered.
PREFERRED:
EXPERIENCE:REQUIRED:
- 0-1 year of clinical experience in ultrasound.
PREFERRED:
- 1-2 years of clinical experience in MFM ultrasound.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/
LISTING:REQUIRED:
American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers with OB-GYN registry; credentials must be held on the date of hire and maintained continuously.
BLS (CPR) - American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.PREFERRED:
American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers with OB-GYN, Abdomen, and Fetal Echo registries.
