Xanitos is hiring Casual Patient Sitters for 3rd shift at UPMC Altoona in Altoona, PA. The position offers flexible scheduling and competitive pay.

Job Overview

The Casual Patient Sitter is responsible for providing visual and audible observation of assigned patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) and aligned with the Xanitos Leadership team.

The job involves:

• Monitoring patients' condition and behavior at all times
• Remaining at the bedside unless relieved by an appropriate staff member
• Redirecting patients from participating in at-risk behaviors
• Completing observation reports
• Rendering compassionate service and responding to patient needs
• Summoning nursing staff when assistance is required
• Collaborating to identify and report patient safety issues

Key Responsibilities

The Casual Patient Sitter will be responsible for:

• Assisting patients with ordering dietary trays and setting up meal trays
• Helping patients with positioning, ambulation, and wheelchair use
• Maintaining patient rooms in a safe and orderly fashion
• Escorting patients during diagnostic testing
• Participating in hand-off of pertinent information and collaborating with other staff members

Requirements

To succeed in this role, applicants must have:

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• Excellent communication skills, including reading and understanding written English
• CPR AED or basic life support healthcare provider (BLS-HCP) certification
• Flu vaccination

Physical Demands

The Casual Patient Sitter will be expected to:

• Sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
• Lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 50 lbs
• Work in a standing position for long periods

Salary

The salary for this position is $14.50 per hour.
