    JOB SUMMARY

    The Purchasing Manager is responsible for the development of process as well as direct and indirect supervision of the teams responsible for vendor qualification and purchasing.

    You will facilitate team member development, develop standardization in process, facilitate process improvement, and lead a team of professionals.

    DURING A TYPICAL DAY

    Leadership of the qualification process and the Qualifications Coordinator that manages the qualification and life-cycle compliance of POET's vendor accounts.

    Direct and indirect leadership of a Purchasing Specialist team that is responsible for order placement, tracking, customer service to internal/external stakeholders, and other related administrative tasks.

    Works closely with Buyers and Inventory team to support cost control and inventory management.

    Identify, mitigate and resolve procurement risks and problems, including qualification compliance, receiving concerns, invoice issues, and technical and commercial clarifications.

    Initiate and lead improvement projects to current processes or policies.
    Develop and recommend qualification and purchasing policies for the organization.
    Support team in resolving discrepancies between purchase order, receiver and invoice. Communicate and work with vendor, company management and appropriate department personnel to resolve issues.
    Provide backup support to Purchasing Specialists and Qualifications Coordinator to cover or assist in coverage, scheduling conflicts, etc.
    Ensure staffing requirements are met.
    Effectively manage the team by recruiting, selecting, orienting and training team members.

    Leadership responsibilities also include delegating, coaching, managing performance and career development to effectively execute departmental strategies and support company objectives.

    STRENGTHS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

    Associates Degree or above in a related field such as Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Project Management or Information Technology.

    Minimum of 5 years' experience in related fields and 2+ years' experience in a management or supervisory role.
    P.M. certification, along with experience in Maximo, Aras, and/or Microsoft Dynamics is a plus.
    Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills as well as the ability to embrace change.
    You communicate effectively in writing and in person.
    You know the basics of Microsoft Office Suite. You're capable of learning new programs.
