College/Department Information
The Immunology Center of Georgia (IMMCG) represents a new initiative by the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University to leverage the ability of the immune system to combat disease.
The IMMCG will accomplish this by assembling teams of biomedical researchers with strong records of scientific innovation and technological development.
The IMMCG will be co-directed by world-class immunologists Drs.Catherine 'Lynn' Hedrick and Klaus Ley, both of whom have made major discoveries linking immune cells to specific mechanisms of disease.
The goal of the IMMCG is to produce novel and effective treatments for conditions that heavily impact the communities of Georgia and the United States.
The new center is aggressively recruiting faculty and staff to lead projects focused on cardiovascular disease, obesity and metabolic disorders, autoimmune and infectious disease, neurodegenerative disease and cancer.
Job Summary
We invite outstanding and highly motivated individuals to explore novel functional roles of lymphatic vasculature and immune cells with us.
This position will play a critical role in assisting with routine experimental procedures in imaging, histology, cell and molecular biology experiments (including material preparation and documentation).
In close collaboration with a senior lab member, the successful candidate will undertake a research project that contributes to our broader mission.
Additionally, the position includes assisting with mouse colony, laboratory upkeep and offers the opportunity to acquire fundamental laboratory techniques in the field of immunology and vascular biology.
As a team-oriented basic research group, we aim to understand the homeostatic and pathogenic roles of lymphatic and immune responses in the context of chronic inflammation.
Our interdisciplinary team of experts uses cutting-edge techniques to unravel the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying these interactions, with the goal of developing novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for these devastating diseases.
As a member of our dynamic and diverse team, you will have the opportunity to work alongside supportive mentors and supervisors who will guide you in your exploration of these complex systems.

Responsibilities to include but not limited to:
Research Studies:
Assist with research studies, experiments, and assays, including collection, preparation, evaluation, verification, and set-up of biological samples. Prepare tissue cultures, reagents, and maintain inventory of chemicals, supplies, and stock solutions for use in the laboratory.
Animals:
Manage and assist with animal colonies including genotyping and breeding
Experiments:
Assist and maintain equipment for microscopy, histology, flow cytometry, protein, and mRNA analysis, as well as small animal procedures.
Comply with established safety procedures. Assist with general lab maintenance and cleaning.Other:
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in a research, basic science, or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' experience in a research, basic science, or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research.
Ability to maintain confidentiality. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)
Pay Grade:
R9
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
