    Job Summary:

    The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers patient-centered care by employing a nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role prioritizes high-quality care guided by clinical protocols and physician orders, collaborating with a diverse healthcare team to achieve positive patient outcomes while fostering a compassionate environment for patients and their families.

    About Our Hospital:

    Located near the stunning shores of Lake Michigan, we pride ourselves on serving the community for over 40 years. Our 227-bed facility offers a range of acute care services, including cardiology, orthopedics, surgical services, emergency care, oncology, and maternal health. Our newly upgraded hospital is equipped with cutting-edge technology and is the only certified stroke center and nationally accredited chest pain center in the area.

    Working Environment:

    We offer a dynamic work environment across three units: our ICU, IMCU, and Med Surg. Our ICU is a 14-bed unit providing critical care and life support for patients facing acute illnesses and injuries. Our IMCU is a 30-bed unit equipped with wall monitors and telemetry, catering to patients requiring a level of care between Med-Surg and ICU. Our Med Surg is a fast-paced 30-bed unit with significant patient turnover, addressing a wide range of ailments among patients of various ages.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Provide and coordinate high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with established protocols.
    • Conduct thorough patient assessments, document findings accurately, and communicate changes to the care team.
    • Deliver age-appropriate care and education informed by knowledge of human growth and development.
    • Administer prescribed medications, monitoring for side effects and documenting according to practice standards.
    • Assist physicians in procedures, adhering to documented competencies.
    • Collaborate with the healthcare team to create, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
    • Respond to medical emergencies and participate in life-saving interventions as needed.
    • Advocate for patients' rights and needs, ensuring their involvement in care planning.
    • Educate patients and families on medical conditions, treatments, and post-discharge care to ensure understanding.
    • Follow infection control protocols to reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections.
    • Monitor and operate medical equipment needed for patient safety and care.
    • Promote patient safety by adhering to National Patient Safety Goals.
    • Engage in audits and compliance checks to maintain standards of practice.
    • Make responsible clinical decisions and delegate care appropriately.
    • Document care and education promptly in the medical record.
    • Engage in professional development to stay current with nursing standards.
    • Participate in performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
    • Perform other duties as assigned, while complying with all policies and standards.

    Requirements:

    • No more than 2 years of experience in clinical nursing or relevant student clinical rotations in an acute care setting.

    Licenses and Certifications:

    • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required (State or Compact State).
    • Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications preferred.
    • Refer to facility or unit-specific guidelines for additional requirements.
