- Lead and mentor a team of buyers, providing guidance, feedback, and development opportunities.
- Cultivate and maintain long-term relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability.
- Identify and onboard new vendor relationships, negotiating contracts to optimize quality and cost.
- Develop and execute category-level purchasing strategies to drive growth and achieve organizational goals.
- Streamline purchasing processes in collaboration with other departments to enhance operational efficiency.
- Stay informed about market trends, economic conditions, and industry best practices to inform purchasing decisions.
- Drive achievement of sales, margin, and inventory goals through strategic purchasing practices.
- Minimum of 10 years of purchasing experience, with 5 + years in the food industry required.
- 5+ years of direct purchasing leadership experience.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Strong leadership and team development skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and deadlines.
- Effective prioritization and adaptability to changing priorities.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Willingness to travel up to 15% for vendor visits, customer meetings, and tradeshows.
