    Description

    POSITION OBJECTIVE:

    Operates a laser to precision cut metal for filter components, frames and containment houses.

    Determines whether each piece of metal is cut correctly and then makes adjustments to the computer program.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Uses a laser machine to cut all thicknesses of metal for filter components, frames, and containment houses.
    • Places metal pieces into the machine and then onto pallets.
    • Cuts notches in the metal part.
    • Etches instructions into metal pieces.
    • Edits computer programs if problems arise.
    • Sets up the computer if the machine shuts down. Downloads computer programs onto the laser computer.
    • Operates a forklift to pick up metal.
    • Keeps accurate records of the work performed and the metal inventory.
    • Maintains the machine by cleaning, emptying catch trays, and vacuuming, changing filters, adding fluids, and making adjustments.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
    Requirements

    TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Measurement skill is required to 1/32 inch.
    • Math skill is needed to be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide to work with computer programs and to convert from metric to standard measurements.
    KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

    • 2 years experience in a manufacturing environment preferred

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

    High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

    LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:

    License or certificates in any of the above mentioned trade skills are beneficial

    SPECIAL SKILLS:

    Reading ability is necessary to be able to understand operations manuals.
    • Requires the ability to read and follow flat patterns.
    • Requires the ability to work with precision instruments.
