- Identifies, recruits, and tours clinical student placement sites when appropriate.
- Anticipates clinical placement needs based on admission and enrollment data.
- Collaborates with faculty, Director of the Simulation Center, staff assistant, and dean to plan and arrange clinical placements as well as evaluate the experience from the student, faculty, and clinical site perspective.
- Collaborates with the staff assistant in maintaining clinical clearance records, clinical contracts, and skills validations and completion certifications.
- Collaborates with the staff assistant in maintaining all student records, including but not limited to background checks, waivers, immunization records to ensure student compliance with facility requirements.
- Manages the recruitment and hiring of clinical instructors and preceptors; works with the Dean and Human Resources to prepare advertisements, schedule interviews, maintain files, and develop clinical contract requests.
- Works with clinical affiliate clinical placement coordinators to ensure smooth clinical operations; attends relevant training and meetings as needed.
- Assists the Dean and the CCNE Accreditation Liasion in meeting regulatory and accreditation requirements primarily related to clinical operations, including the collection and analysis of data and the development of reports.
- Serves on various School of Nursing committees.
- Provides clinical instruction and indirect oversight to students in clinical experience and mentoring to clinical instructors as needed.
- In conjunction with the Chair of the School of Nursing, serves as the Designated Education Unit (DEU) coordinator for both campuses as needed.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with key constituents including students, prospective students, agents of the University, clinical affiliates, cooperating agencies, community groups and agency personnel.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse License to practice in the State of Vermont.
- Active CPR certification.
- Previous experience working with or in clinical sites, placing students, and coordinating related documents preferred.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to multi-task and work well as a member of an aligned professional team.
- Ability to deal effectively with a broad range of individuals/groups within and outside of the university.
- Use of curricular technologies, LMS, computer skills-Microsoft, Excel desirable.

BASIC FUNCTION
Under the supervision of the Dean responsible for the Nursing Department, the Clinical Site Coordinator is responsible for strategic and operational details related to the planning, coordination, execution, and student evaluation of faculty-supervised, community-based, and precepted clinical/field experiences at the Castleton and Bennington campuses.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
General supervision is received from the Dean of Health and Sciences
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
General supervision of interns, and student workers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in nursing or other appropriate discipline, plus three to five years of nursing experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are attained.
