    THE BIG PICTURE

    Cross Lanes Bible Church ) is seeking a full-time Senior Pastor.



    Requirements

    General Responsibility

    The Senior Pastor has the oversight of the body of believers assembled as members and attendees of Cross Lanes Bible Church and its many ministries.

    He is responsible to blend the individual diversity of the local church into a God-glorifying unity.

    He is responsible to equip the saints to do the work of the ministry.

    He is to rightly divide the Word of God so the congregation can be fed, exhorted, edified, comforted, and warmed about the truths of God.

    He is the chief administrator of the church and is responsible for the oversight of church personnel, the church ministries and the church facilities.

    He is responsible to develop the vision of the church.

    He is to work with the Official Board in developing the policies and resources needed to accomplish the established objective of the church.

    He is accountable to God, the Official Board, and the church membership.

    Specific Responsibility

    I. Public Worship

    To plan, develop, coordinate and implement public worship, the Senior Pastor shall:

    *Determine sermon emphases and special emphases

    *Delegate and coordinate activities of pastoral staff and members regarding worship

    *Prepare and deliver sermons

    *Determine need for and invite guest speakers to participate in ministry

    *Assume preaching assignments outside CLBC as appropriate

    II. Spiritual Development

    Enhance the spiritual development of the congregation through:

    *Worship emphases

    *Sermon content

    *Fellowship

    *Wednesday evening Bible studies

    *Visitation

    *Counseling and teaching

    *Prayer ministries

    III. Missions

    Initiate, organize, administer, promote, implement, and assist missions involvement in foreign, domestic, and local areas by:

    *Encouraging church sponsored mission trips

    *Promoting missionary giving

    *Taking mission trips

    *Giving oversight for annual missions conference

    IV. Evangelism

    Promote evangelism through:

    *Preaching

    *Visiting

    *Personal witness

    *Training

    *Serving as a resource person within overall church strategies

    V. Cross Lanes Christian School

    *Serve and take an active role on the school board

    *Preach regularly in the chapel services

    *Work with the Administrator and Board to insure the fulfillment of the mission of the

    school

    *Offer counsel and give direction in difficult discipline and personnel problems

    VI. Church Administration

    As chief administrator, the Senior Pastor is responsible for planning, organizing, managing,

    delegating, coordinating, supporting, reporting, and implementing activities of the church

    and its staff to assure the achievement of the purposes of the church. The Senior Pastor is

    responsible for encouraging and developing the staff and the church membership to realize

    individual potential and fulfill the Mission of the Church.

    Specifically, the Senior Pastor shall:

    *Coordinate the activities of the pastoral staff and support staff

    *Supervise pastors and support staff or delegate supervision to select staff; this

    supervision includes delegation of assignments, planning workload with the

    supervisee, regular view and evaluation of performance

    *Review the annual performance evaluation with a pre-selected committee

    *Work with the Official Board in developing short-term and long-term objectives for the

    church and evaluate the progress of these objectives on an annual basis

    *Seek input from staff and the membership and "trouble-shoot" when necessary to

    facilitate involvement, encourage cooperation and achieve goals of the church

    *Participate in the recruitment, training and orientation of new staff members and

    leaders of the church

    *Facilitate immediate and long-range planning

    *Planning of activities

    *Supervise the Calendar and keep the congregation informed about church activities

    *Represent the pastoral and support staff to the Official Board and convey needs of the

    staff to appropriate committees

    *Keep informed about the fiscal well-being of the church

    *Assume other administrative duties which facilitate the work of the church

    VII. Visitation and Counseling

    The Senior Pastor is responsible for providing help and support to members in crisis, those

    facing life transitions and others seeking counseling. Specifically, the Senior Pastor shall:

    *Provide pre-marital counseling

    *Offer hospital and emergency visitation

    *Provide visitation

    *Extend regular visitation/counseling in relationship to death

    VIII. Job Qualifications

    The position of Senior Pastor requires a wide range of skills, abilities, and personal qualities,

    but each Pastor will bring unique strengths, potential and gifts that will be used in service to

    God and the Church.

    The Senior Pastor is expected to:

    *Meet qualifications as set forth in I Timothy 3:1-5 and Titus 1:5-9

    *Have a minimum of a Master Degree

    *Have a minimum of ten years work experience in the ministry

    *Demonstrate interpersonal skills

    *Be an effective leader

    *Demonstrate administrative and management skills

    *Provide a role-model for members of the congregation, staff and community

    *Have teaching and public speaking skills
