    Job Summary

    Responsible for coordinating and driving the resources and activities necessary for the design, implementation and delivery of IntegratedCare delivery within the Nursing Services Institute. Facilitates, leads and functions as an organizer, teacher, mentor, administrator, humanresource developer, evaluator, public relations person, coach, counselor, public speaker, management consultant and change agent. Directsthe operations management teams which interface with Nursing Services and the overall system Nursing Institute strategy

    Job Duties

    Directly responsible for management of Nursing Services within the assigned platform or region.

    Directly responsible for the patient care services that involve nursing and patient care for the assigned platform or region.

    Directly accountable for the management and development of the nursing budget for the assigned platform or region.

    Key role model and mentor for new nursing leaders within the Nursing Institute for the assigned platform or region.

    Leads and manages the business affairs of the assigned platform or region including problem solving and performance standard development.

    Assures the Professional Practice Model at GMC is brought to life in all responsible areas.

    Facilitates nursing practice based on evidence and best practices, and consistent with nursing standards.

    Effectively communicates vision, goals and initiatives at the Nursing department unit level.
    • Incorporates goals, vision and initiatives into unit and department plans.

    Leads the process to build a Nursing Leadership bench to assure leadership accountability is achieved and maintained.

    Facilitates continuing education and research opportunities for employees, self and community to support growth and enhance the contribution to system.

    Utilizes team building concepts to effectively empower team members by serving as a mentor, teacher and coach.

    Facilitates development, maintenance and success of unit teams via mentoring of unit leaders and support of the Nursing Department philosophy.

    Enhances skills of team members such as decision making, problem solving, conflict resolution, human resource management, communication and leadership.

    Develops and promotes service standards which foster a customer sensitive environment.

    Measures performance against standards and assures commitment to perform at the top quartile.

    Facilitates staffs management of patients and customer related issues.

    Ensures that the patient safety improvement and management program will be given high priority and will support the program.

    Ensures that sufficient time is available for staff participation in patient safety activities at both the department and organizational level.

    Ensures that staff attend all required patient safety education programs.

    Position Details

    Education Requirements: Master's Degree Required (if Master's Degree is not in nursing, baccalaureate or higher degree must be in nursing)

This position's scope includes five leadership direct reports and a nursing staff of approximately 2,000 team members.     Geisinger Janet Weis Children's Hospital, Danville, Pa.

    Geisinger Healthplex Woodbine, Danville, Pa. (a campus of Geisinger Medical Center)

    Geisinger Shamokin Area Community Hospital, Coal Township, Pa. (a campus of Geisinger Medical Center)

    Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital, Bloomsburg, Pa.

    Geisinger St. Luke's Hospital, Orwigsburg, Pa. (a joint venture of Geisinger and St. Luke's)

    Education

    Masters Degree- (Required), Bachelors Degree-Nursing (Required)

    Experience

    Minimum of 10 years-Managing people, processes, or projects (Required)

    Certification(s) and License(s)

    Licensed Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) - RN_State of Pennsylvania
