    Denton Municipal Electric, an entity within City of Denton, is looking for an Energy Market Analyst that is knowledgeable in the wholesale energy market.

    This position is responsible for analysis, operational management and commercial execution within Energy Management Organization for the DME energy portfolio and its QSE in ERCOT.

    The portfolio comprises the customer load requirements and the supply resources including dispatchable generation and renewable resources, wholesale markets and congestion.

    Key areas of focus will be impacts of market changes and the utilization of tools to facilitate optimal outcomes.


    Essential Job Functions:
    Actively participates with members of the energy management function in delivering reliable wholesale energy supplies to Denton Municipal Electric at competitive prices, which includes analysis of short-term through long-term load serving requirementsProvides thought leadership for the implementation and integration of market tools to analyze the ERCOT wholesale energy market consisting of complex programs and algorithmsAnalysis of future market impacts due to Nodal Protocols Revision Requests (NPRRs)

    Understands the fundamentals of energy market modeling, energy analytics, and back-cast analysisFamiliarity with ERCOTs Nodal Protocols and financial settlement conceptsProvides thought leadership for designing, constructing, and implementing dashboard screens that inform the Day Ahead and Real Time desk of current market conditionsParticipates as a thought leader and as a contributing team member with the development and implementation of DMEs wholesale energy operating strategies, inclusive of scheduling and biddingLeads and performs complex analyses to project market trends based on current and future market conditions and operationsDesigns, develops, implements, and maintains complex analyses that includes analysis from database queries via finished products/web publicationsAssists with presentations and backup documentation as needed for various City of Denton and Denton Municipal Electric boards, commissions, and councilsParticipates as a thought leader and as a contributing team member for decisions that may impact DMEConducts research, provides technical expertise, and participates in the ERCOT market design and development processMaintains regular and punctual on-site attendanceAdditional Duties:

    Acceptable Equivalency:
    A Bachelors degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or Engineering with 8 years of previous work experience in the ERCOT market, 3 years of which should be in the wholesale market (Zonal or Nodal)

    ORA Masters Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or Engineering with 6 years of previous work experience in the ERCOT market, 2 years of which should be in the wholesale market (Zonal or Nodal)ORAny combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the jobCompetencies:
