- Ensure adequate staffing for lab assistant roles by creating schedules based on available staff and required skills for phlebotomy.
- Participate in staff selection, conducting interviews and assessing candidates.
- Knowledgeable about lab billing processes, auditing charges, and transferring data between systems.
- Collect blood samples, maintain specimen quality, verify patient identities, and prioritize patient comfort.
- Supervise assigned personnel, demonstrating professional and supervisory judgment.
- Education and Work Experience:
- High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
- Experience in Phlebotomy in a clinical laboratory: Preferred
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) license: Preferred
- Essential Functions:
- Train, supervise, and schedule lab assistants and phlebotomists.
- Assign staff based on skills and patient needs, adjusting work assignments accordingly.
- Participate in staff interviews, coaching, and mentoring.
- Handle specimen collection, processing, and reporting, ensuring adherence to procedures.
- Collaborate with the lab team and maintain quality control standards.
