    Position Summary

    The position is responsible for redacting video and audio recordings from the departments body worn camera program. The requests may come from public information requests, media requests, or upon the department's request. The recording will need to be prepared in accordance with state law and department guidelines. The work performed is often sensitive or confidential in nature.

    Position Responsibilities

    The primary responsibility will be preparing body worn camera recordings for public release to authorized individuals per established guidelines. The position may be required to testify in court or in a deposition. Regular correspondence and file sharing with police officers, administrators, prosecutors, and other civilian employees will be expected.

    Review and redact videos and ensure release is in accordance with federal, state, and local statutes, and established policies and procedures.

    Qualifications

    An associates or higher degree is required. Video editing and redacting experience is not required, but is preferred. Additional experience may substitute the educational requirement. Must be able to operate standard office equipment including Microsoft Office, computer, printer, facsimile, and copy machine. This position requires patience and careful attention to details. Must be able to multitask on several projects concurrently. Organization and good communication skills (especially email correspondence) are needed. The ability to maintain confidentiality and insure integrity of ongoing investigations. Resiliency is necessary as recording will show acts of trauma.

    Independent Judgment

    Most of the work is completed independently. Must have the ability to make proper decisions independently in the absence of an administrative superior.

    A supervisor will be available for feedback and review, but the employee must be confident in applying the department directives to a wide variety of situations.
