    NATURE OF WORK:
    The Quality Control Inspector assists the Contractor Quality Control Officer in inspecting operations and maintenance activities at the Black Warrior Tombigbee Waterway. The Inspector is responsible for inspections of work, facilities, and safe work practices. Conducts employee orientations and safety training. Under the guidance of the CQCO, the Inspector conducts scheduled and random inspections to assure the work complies with the contract, and recommends changes to increase productivity and safety. The Inspector reports directly to the CQCO.
    ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS:
    • Assists in the development of schedules for inspections (quality and safety).
    • Carries out scheduled and unscheduled inspections of work and inspections of facilities.
    • Inspects for safe work performance.
    • Assists in maintaining neat, complete and accessible records in accordance with established procedures.
    • Interacts with government Quality Assurance personnel.
    • Submits daily inspection reports, monthly summary reports, and other reports as required.
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions pertaining to work operations.
    • Knowledge of the materials, methods, practices and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of project facilities.
    • Ability to follow directions of the CQCO.
    • Ability to inspect simple to moderately complex maintenance procedures, construction, equipment maintenance and repair, mowing and cleaning schedules.
    • Ability to make detailed technical inspections.
    • Ability to diagnose, locate and recommend the means to correct problems.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with employees, citizens, corporate personnel, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
    • Ability to substitute for the CQCO if needed.
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    • One (1) year progressively responsible experience relative to general construction, maintenance, cleaning, janitorial or related fields.
    • Minimum of three (3) years progressively responsible experience in the field of quality control and/or safety relative to general construction, facility maintenance, cleaning, janitorial or related fields.
    • Familiarity with EM , safety programs, applicable OSHA regulations, and the ability to interpret the various sections applicable to the work requirements of the contract.
    • Quality Control inspection experiences involving construction trades.
    • High School Diploma and applicable technical or administrative training.
    • Experience in monetary auditing procedures.
    • Security procedure awareness.
    • Facility inspection procedures and component replacement procedure experience.
    • Experience in phases of maintenance; machinery repair; construction; installation of water and electric systems; septic systems; rehabilitation and construction of campsites; mowing and cleaning; bulkhead wall construction, etc.
