    AGENCY OVERVIEW

    At Side By Side, we seek to improve the welfare of children and youth by helping to provide the resources, support and skills they need to develop along a healthy, age-appropriate pathway.     Side by Side will consider applicants who have submitted their registration information to the Board of Behavioral Sciences but have not yet received their BBS registration number by date of hire or applicants who will be graduating with their Master's degree within 45 days.

    COMPENSATION

    This position has a full-time salary range of $69,700 to $96,500 depending on years of clinical experience and bilingual language skills. This position can be part-time or full-time. The annual salary listed above would be adjusted to reflect a schedule of fewer than 40 hours per week.

    BENEFITS

    Benefits outlined below are for employees working 30+ hours a week. Benefits for part-time employees are calculated based on number of hours worked.

    • 3 weeks of paid vacation for F/T employees increasing to 4 weeks of vacation after 2 years of service

If you are a part-time employee working 20-29 hours per week, Side by Side pays 75% for you and 25% of the monthly premium for your dependents. The cost of the monthly premium is based on each member's age. Employees who work 19 or fewer hours are not benefit-eligible

    PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

    Side by Side's YouThrive program offers early intervention services that equip young people with the strategies that build resilience and coping skills to stay on a positive path through school and thrive in adulthood. The program provides early intervention and prevention services though once weekly outpatient individual or group therapy in a school, community or virtual setting. Clients in this program receive interventions through a cognitive behavioral model, with a focus on communication skills, processing, emotion identification, and coping skill development. YouThrive is both a Medi-Cal funded mental health service as well as a fee for service model.

    Requirements

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES / EXPECTATIONS
    • Direct one-to-one services, Individual, Family and/or group therapy
    • Implementation of behavioral plan using strengths-based behavioral interventions and/or evidence based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing (MI).
    • Developing and teaching youths/caregivers effective tools/skills for coping with challenging behaviors.
    • Effective interaction with caregivers and other significant people in youth's familial network and treatment to support follow-through of behavioral plan as well as with school personnel to identify potential referrals.
    • Effective use of diagnostic skills.
    • Completing a thorough assessment and functional analysis of target behaviors.
    • Developing a transition plan from the inception of services that achieves independence in meeting needs of youth.
    • Developing a treatment plan, identifying measurable outcomes and timelines for measuring progress towards utilization of behavioral interventions and reduction of targeted behaviors.
    • Attending weekly supervision.
    • Participating in external and in-services trainings relevant to the program services.
    • Timely completion of documentation of all services rendered in accordance with Medi-Cal recording standards as set out in program policy.
    • Completing all other documentation necessary as directed by the Program Manager/Supervisor.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    • Master's Degree (or on track to graduate within 60-90 days) in mental health related field
    • BBS Registration or eligible for BBS Registration
    • California Department of Justice and FBI fingerprint clearance.
    • Must have a dependable car, valid driver's license, and proof of insurance.
    • Insurable by SBS's automobile policy.

    POSITION-SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

    Program and Clinical
    • Excellent understanding of the treatment, staffing, documentation and regulatory requirements for Drug-Medi-Cal SUD services
    • Knowledge and specific experience with therapeutic modalities suitable for youth and their families, including: harm reductions theories, seeking safety and motivational interviewing.
    • In depth knowledge and experience with trauma-informed care
    • Broad general knowledge of the child welfare system and youth mental/behavioral health fields
    • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for child welfare, mental/behavioral health/substance use disorder providers
    • Ability to view families, both biological and chosen, as resources and support systems for youth, and commitment to involve families in services
    • Experience working with SED (severely emotionally disturbed) youths.
    • Experience providing behavioral intervention, clinical assessment, and ability to write behavioral analysis forms and treatment plans are essential.
    • Must have experience providing behavioral re-directive services with this population.
    • Familiarity with Triple P, DTQI and Motivational Interviewing is not required but will be helpful.
    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Note: The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has issued new requirements for health care and congregant care facilities to decrease the risk of COVID-19 outbreaks. Based on the CDPH public health mandate, all candidates for positions at Side by Side must provide proof of vaccination.
