    As the Senior Consultant FSAS, you will serve as a subject matter expert in food safety and be the primary point of contact and project manage key clients, working with the Global Senior Manager of Consulting to develop, deliver, implement, and manage consulting projects for assigned key clients. You will act as the subject matter expert for food technical and manufacturing areas, and help to build, develop and grow any business relationships through a clear customer strategy, aligned with account managers and sales as well as directly undertaking projects around the USA. Identifying prospective customers, managing customer outreach to understand client's needs and requirements in food safety and beyond will be an integral part of this role, as well as contributing to business development goals for the team by developing or supporting development of full-scale project plans for the client and evaluates and integrates cross selling opportunities where appropriate.

    Responsibilities
    • Deliver KPIs related to revenue and margin.
    • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, documentations and presentations, as required.
    • Contributes to business development goals for the team by developing a solution for the client and evaluates and integrates cross selling opportunities where appropriate.
    • Support proposal development and sales process with relevant functions to close proposals
    • Directly work on/and manage projects from the beginning to the end independently on time, within budget and with outcomes that fulfill project objectives/deliverables and result in satisfied clients
    • Defines project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals. Estimates the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals. Develops full-scale project plans and associated communication documents. Communicates project expectations to team members and clients. Liaises with client on an on-going basis.
    • Manages consulting projects which could be delivered directly at client's sites as per proposal scope.
    • Assist with the provision of technical advice for key clients as part of crisis management including support with the out of hours service.
    • Understand client's needs and requirements in food safety and beyond..
    • Coaches, mentors, trains and motivates project team internal and external resources and influences them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
    • Manages, proactively, changes in project scope, identifies potential crises and devises contingency plans. Identifies and resolves issues and conflicts within the project team. Plans, schedules and tracks project timelines and milestones using project management principles.
    • Support and deputize for the Senior Global Manager to effectively manage the consulting team. Act as a Subject Matter Expert and ambassador for NSF Food Consulting. Function as a backup to other members of the Consulting team.
    • Coordinate horizon scanning activity to ensure that relevant emerging issues are identified to the client.
    • Provide liaison with external bodies on behalf of clients and programs, eg trade associations, national food safety agencies and non-governmental organizations and act as an NSF spokesperson for identified areas of technical expertise, which could involve public speaking or presenting to customers.
    Qualifications
    • Degree in Food Science, Biology, Nutrition, or related discipline
    • Consulting experience
    • Strong business development and commercial acumen
    • Knowledge of the principles, practices and regulations pertaining to food safety, product and process development
    • Minimum of five (5) years work experience with detailed working knowledge of a variety of food industry sectors and the various industry, government and associations interactions (including FDA, USDA)
    • Knowledge of the principles, practices and US regulations pertaining to food safety including FSMA, GMP, HACCP, GSFI schemes and other industry best practices.
    • Adequate knowledge of the principles, practices and regulations pertaining to food safety product and process development, shelf life and food labelling including mandatory and voluntary information and claims across the supply chain
    • Skilled at writing proposal and reports, project management and document control
    • Skilled at working with and interacting with computer technology, specifically various industry/client programs and databases
    • Travel will be required as part of this role and will vary from project to project, but could be up to 75%
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Bilingual - French or Spanish
    • Food labelling knowledge and/or experience
    • Minimum of three (3) years of direct supervisory or leadership experience
    • Knowledge of working within QSR
    Salary Range: $60,000 - $133,000 USD

    Salary Range: $60,000 - $130,000 CAD

    The total pay range takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed pay range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At NSF, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the pay range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
