    Responsibilities

    The Infrastructure Operations Engineer is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and delivering the company's IT operations infrastructure. This focus is on both the Silver Spring headquarters as well as SCA Health's network of Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs) and Specialty Practice Offices.

    This position will focus on the operation of enterprise-wide system tools which are leveraged to provide a stable, secure, and scalable environment upon which the infrastructure and applications rely. The role would work closely with a team of other systems engineers to provide IT automation, conduct backup/disaster recovery operations, and ensure processes are properly implemented and documented.

    This position must remain knowledgeable on the latest IT technologies and bring that knowledge to use in developing/supporting IT capabilities, evaluating vendor products, and recommending decisions consistent with short- and long-term business objectives. This role is expected to function as a leader and good steward for the Enterprise Operations department by regularly representing the interests of IT at client sites and with PE administration.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned)

    • Responsible for the operation and maintenance of all enterprise systems, programs, and networks
    • Participates in the creation of documentation for system configurations and is responsible for implementing best practices
    • Perform as a technical project manager for the enterprise operations functional unit
    • Provide IT Support Services Tier 3 support as it relates to enterprise systems operations
    • Provides engineering of applications, server, and storage infrastructure
    • Develops and operates custom automation solutions to increase system efficiency and reliability
    • Monitors the day-to-day operations of the enterprise architecture including threat assessment, software and hardware alerts, network efficiency and stability
    • Responsible for the performance of all systems applications and infrastructure. Assesses monitoring and testing results to make on-going improvements
    • Proactively identifies issues, determines solutions, and implements fixes
    • Oversees the administration and engineering of all backups, redundancy, and disaster recovery products
    • Responsible for knowledge dissemination to other functional IT units and staff
    • Streamlines efficiency around PC deployment by managing image deployment system
    • Manages firmware and patching compliance of operating systems, application software, and systems management tools
    • Collaborates with vendors and other IT personnel on incident escalation and resolution
    • Mentors and helps train associate level systems engineers and other IT support team members
    • Provides input on IS policies, procedures, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent information processing operations and to safeguard information resources
    • Manages Data Center operations for PE, managing key vendor relationships and ensuring PE's core hardware environment is resilient and secure
    • Designs and implements systems policies, procedures, and standards, ensuring conformance with company policy as well as compliance

    Hybrid role, must be on site 2 days/week.


    Qualifications
    • Broad and deep systems architecture knowledge
    • Extensive application planning, delivery, and support experience
    • Strong knowledge and experience in project management methodologies and tools
    • Extensive experience engineering Microsoft Windows servers and infrastructure components (AD, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy)
    • Experience with MSP tools (ConnectWise, SolarWinds)
    • Experience administering a PC deployment system
    • Experience with monitoring systems (SEIM tools, Splunk)
    • Experience supporting database technologies (SQL, Oracle)
    • Experience in programing and scripting languages (PowerShell, Python)
    • Extensive experience supporting Microsoft Windows PC Operating Systems
    • Extensive experience supporting virtualization (Hyper-V, VMWare, Citrix XenApp Server)
    • Strong knowledge of industry standard IT policies and procedures
    • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to motivate and lead IT personnel, (both in-house and contractors)
    • Strong knowledge of systems environment automation, security, and operations best practices and principals
    • Ability to perform a high number of tasks simultaneously

    PREFERRED SKILLS and ABILITIES

    • Strong knowledge of cloud computing including IaaS and PaaS technologies
    • Knowledge of physician healthcare practices and ambulatory surgical centers

    REQUIRED EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND and/or EXPERIENCE

    The successful candidate will have the following experience or knowledge in the following areas:

    • Undergraduate degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent)
    • 2 to 5 years of experience in systems engineering and/or enterprise IT architecture

    • The employee must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time. The employee needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
    • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to grasp, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. Hearing and visual acuity are also required.
    • The employee will constantly be operating a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine & printer.
    • The employee may occasionally be required to lift and or move up to 30lbs by themselves.
