    Space Situational Awareness and Spaceflight Safety Analyst
    Job Summary
    The Systems Engineering Division (SED) provides unmatched experience in systems engineering to the U.S.

    government and to numerous public and private agencies, universities, nonprofit organizations, consortia, and commercial companies involved in the advanced application of space technology.

    From systems architecture development to system analysis and optimization, astrodynamics, orbital debris, navigation, failure analysis, mission assurance, cost and schedule assessment, and economic market analysis, SED exploits an incredibly broad array of engineering and business disciplines against a diverse and dynamic portfolio of programs and national challenges.

    Work Model

    This position will require onsite support for a minimum of 3 days in either El Segundo, CA, Chantilly, VA, or Colorado Springs, CO with partial remote work options.

    What You'll Be Doing

    As a member of the Space Situational Awareness and Spaceflight Safety Team, you will be providing technical capabilities to support our customers in space situational awareness analysis and flight safety.


    In this role, you will:


    You will contribute to multiple focus areas of the department, which include space domain awareness (SDA), SDA data management, space object tracking and cataloguing, space debris analysis, launch support, space traffic management, radio-frequency interference, and laser deconfliction.

    Our real-time operations support performs launch and on-orbit collision risk assessments, on-orbit breakup event evaluation, and deorbit/reentry analysis
    Independently conduct technical deep dives, trade studies, and assessments in teams with multi-disciplinary technical leaders, Aerospace Program Office personnel, and external customers to define and address customer needs
    Develop and present timely and technically accurate briefings and reports that clearly communicate analysis results and provide recommended solutions to technical leads, management, and customers
    Travel occasionally (as necessary) to support customer efforts
    What You Need to be Successful
    Master's or PhD degreefrom an accredited college/university programin

    Aerospace engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related technical discipline (Pursuing or conferred within the last 12 months)
    0-1 year of professional postgraduate experience

    Organizational skills, to include:
    Self-management of multiple tasks, deadlines, and deliverables
    Ability to take direction, work independently, and develop productive working relationships

    Aptitude with astrodynamics and related mathematics
    Skills in mathematical formulation and derivation
    Demonstrated skills in the development and use of computer software tools
    This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

    Experience with Python, C, and/or Fortran
    Direct experience in primary department areas of support
    Meaningful and consistent contribution to a substantial technical analytical or development project through its successful fruition
    Expertise in team coordination and/or mentorship
    Current and active Top-Secret Clearance (TS) with SCI access

    Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
