    AFP Management is currently growing and looking to expand in the Miami / Ft. Lauderdale area. Currently we are looking for an experienced Hotel Full-Service Branded Director of Finance. Applicants must have prior Hotel Experience as a Controller or currently is a Director of Finance at a smaller, Branded Full-Service Hotel. Salary Range is based on experience with Pay Range from $105,000 to $115,000. Please review all requirements for the position before applying. Currently, no relocation is being offered for the role.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS & BENEFITS

    Job Summary: The Director of Finance is responsible for providing consistent leadership in the financial area of the hotel by supplying management with guidance and training. He/she is also responsible for focusing on the profitability of the business, maintaining accurate and timely financial reporting, ensuring acceptable levels on internal control, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, and safeguarding owners'/investors' assets.

    Qualifications

    Education & Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
    • Five (5) years of accounting management experience, preferably in the hospitality industry.
    • CPA preferred.
    • Must be proficient in Windows, Company approved spreadsheets and word processing and in the operation of all hotel-specific systems.
    • Experience with Accounting Systems as follows: M3, Birchstreet, Aestiva PO System, ADP, Insight, Standard Knowledge of GAAP Standards and use of Checkbooks.

    Physical requirements:

    • Long hours sometimes required.
    • Sedentary work, exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

    Duties & Functions

    Fundamental Requirements:

    • Effectively manage and communicate cash flow related issues. This includes the accurate and timely preparation of cash flow statements, management of receivables, payables, cash balances, control mechanisms and timely deposits of all funds.
    • Monitor hotel revenues and expenses and ensure the accurate recording in accordance with AFP Corporation DBA Doubletree by Hilton Miami Airport Convention Center established guidelines. Investigate and critique variances to budget or to prior year and offer practical improvement methodologies to management.
    • Monitor the capital planning process by assisting management with the calculation of return on capital improvements, gathering support and monitoring the bid process, and ensuring proper upkeep of the property by evaluating scope of work and specifications.
    • Ensure hotels' compliance on all regulatory licenses and permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements, and the proper execution of all operational taxes. Aid management in enforcing compliance on all these items.
    • Analyze financial data and operations in order to assist and advise management in maintaining the hotels' financial objectives.
    • Ensure that all balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations are reconciled on a timely basis.
    • Establish and continually audit all internal financial controls including purchasing, cash handling, disbursements, inventories, hotel assets, master keys, payroll, and employee records.
    • Continually focus on training and development programs for the Accounting associates to cultivate the brightest and best talent within the industry.
    • Ensure implementation and completion of all Accounting Key Competencies, both management and hourly.
    • Hire, train, supervise and develop staff, including coaching, counseling and discipline.
    • Maintain compliance with AFP Corporation standards and regulations to ensure safe and efficient operation of the hotel.
    • Ensure the proper utilization, maintenance and periodic upgrades of all equipment.
    • Direct or prepare all financial reports in accordance with AFP Corporation requirements meeting various due dates and deadlines.
    • Conduct and/or attend and contribute to periodic meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among employees and promote maximum morale, productivity, and efficiency.
    • Monitor hotels' compliance in meeting required report deadlines and due dates and react accordingly.
    • Monitor the accurate production of the hotel daily operating report.
    • Ensures compliance with all Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI).
    • Safeguard assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audits, controls and checks across all departments.
    • Lead and direct the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, payroll, perpetual inventory integrity, fixed asset records, general & entity accounting and cost accounting.
    • Develop, improve and issue timely monthly financial records for executive management team and corporate team.
    • Ensure financial plans are consistent with organizational goals.
    • Provide financial analysis tools to evaluate company ventures, programs, capital expenditures, products costing, etc.
    • Communicates financial concepts in a clear and persuasive manner that is easy to understand and drives desired behaviors.
    • Manage commercial banking relationships to facilitate an appropriate credit resource under highly competitive terms.
    • Monitors systems to ensure accuracy of data (e.g., outlet menu prices) and support the achievement of revenue goals.
    • Interface with outside audit firms(s), banks and lessors, casualty/liability insurance agent(s), credit card companies, and collection agencies.
    • Provide visionary, strategic and functional leadership on behalf of finance and accounting across the organization, in accordance with strategic objectives.
    • Actively serve as a key member of the executive leadership team.
    • Perform various other duties as assigned to meet business objectives
    • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
    • Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
    • Must be able to understand and evaluate complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
    • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
