    Job Description

    The Data & Analytics team at Skechers is actively seeking a Manager of Data Governance .

    While traditional aspects of data governance and some experience in Master Data Management (MDM) remain vital, the primary emphasis will be on the modern elements of data governance such as data quality, data observability, data lineage, data catalog, and business glossary.

    The objective is not only to elevate data-driven decision-making but also to champion and advance overall data literacy across the organization.

    This role offers an ideal fit for someone who has risen through the ranks with hands-on tool implementation experience and is now prepared to lead a small, focused team.

    Prioritize and lead initiatives in data quality, data observability, data lineage, data catalog, and business glossary as core components of data governance.

    Serve as a pivotal liaison between business and functional areas, ensuring that governance elements are effectively integrated throughout the organization.

    Collaborate closely with other pillars within the Data & Analytics organization to align strategies, share best practices, and identify data quality checks based on business rules and definitions.

    Work in conjunction with the Digital team, focusing on enhancing the quality of customer data flowing into the Customer Data Platform (CDP).

    Actively champion and elevate overall Data Literacy within the company through targeted initiatives in cataloging, business glossaries, and data lineage.

    Operationalize governance processes to update or establish data, define business rules, and elevate data standards, quality, and consistency.

    Engage with data stewards, leaders, data owners, and stakeholders to continuously refine and implement data governance standards, processes, and audits.

    Qualifications


    Proven track record in successfully executing medium-to-large scale projects, specifically in the realms of data quality, data observability, data lineage, data catalog, and business glossary.

    Strong grasp of current industry trends, technologies, and products in data governance.
    Robust interpersonal and communication skills, including Agile/Scrum methodology experience.
    Exceptional problem-solving skills with an aptitude for transforming complex issues into actionable solutions.
    Open-minded, approachable, and proactive in fostering a constructive, innovative problem-solving environment.
    Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and facilitation skills, suitable for communicating complex topics to multiple organizational levels and executive management.
    Education and Experience
    Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field.

    10+ years of hands-on experience focusing on elements of data governance such as data quality, data observability, data lineage, and data cataloging.

    Some experience in Master Data Management (MDM) is necessary.

    A minimum of 5 years in data governance realms, including hands-on experience with tools like Collibra, Alation, Informatica, Riversand, and Stibo.

    At least 3 years of experience in Cloud-based, enterprise-wide implementations, preferably with AWS.
    Previous experience in team leadership or management roles is highly desirable.
    Nice to have experience in the retail and CPG sector with an understanding of the business dynamics.
