    Job Description and Duties

    SENIOR PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) – BAY AREA DISTRICT / ANGEL ISLAND STATE PARK

    Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKS program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKS recipient in the comments area on the application. Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKS eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub. If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKS program).

    The Senior Park Aide works under the supervision of the Supervising State Park Peace Officer (Ranger) and receives job direction from the on-duty State Park Peace Officer (Ranger) or State Park Interpreter who is acting as site lead. The reporting location is the Visitor Center at Angel Island State Park in the San Francisco Bay Sector.

    Primary duties include providing quality customer service, answer visitor questions via phone or in-person, explain rules & regulations. Incumbents should be proficient in basic use of computer and email, update social media content, monitor special events, may collect fees, sell tickets, operate light vehicles, may train lower-level seasonal employees, keeps facilities clean and orderly. Employees have the opportunity to live on Angel Island Dormitory style affordable housing in historic buildings. Transportation by ferry and the State Park boat at regularly scheduled times is free. The reporting location is the Visitor Center at Angel Island State Park in the San Francisco Bay Sector.

    For Angel Island State Park only: Operating motor vehicles and functioning as a deck hand on State-owned vessels may also be part of the duties of this position. This position is subject to pre-employment and random drug screening as required by the US Coast Guard.

    This position requires a valid Class C driver's license. You must answer the questions addressing your driver's license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver's license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.

    Working Conditions

    Work activities involve prolonged standing, bending, stooping and lifting, Works inside and outside in varying temperatures may have extensive exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors and or loud noises. May work in fast paced environment.
