    Objective:
    South Shore Transportation Company is looking for a Trailer Mechanic at our Port Reading, NJ location.

    This job consists of maintaining diesel equipment by regularly conducting inspections, preventive maintenance requirements, correcting deficiencies, and keeping complete and accurate records of repairs.

    What does a normal day look like?


    • Will perform mechanical repairs such as brakes / welding / inspections / eld installations (will train)
    • Complete electronic repair orders and other required documents
    • Perform DOT Inspections
    • Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly shop
    • Perform routine maintenance/repairs for commercial semi-trailers and diesel trucks
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues
    • Fabricate and weld parts as needed
    • Ensure all work is performed safely and efficiently
    • Consistently keep your work area clean and organized
    • Other duties as assigned
    • Note: These are the major functions and accountabilities required of the position and are the predominant criteria by which performance will be assessed.

    Below are preferred, but not required:

    • Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or similar role
    • Welding/fabrication experience
    • Electrical experience
    • Diesel Engine experience

    Physical Requirements:

    • Prolonged standing and walking around; up to 8 hours
    • Occasionally move parts and/or materials weighing up to 50 lbs
