    Machinist

    Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

    Department: New Product Introduction

    Position Summary

    The Machinist is responsible for the set up and operation of CNC machines for the purpose of fabricating, altering and repairing prototype parts, tools, equipment and occasional production parts. The ideal candidate will be able to work well under minimal supervision. The candidate must understand how to read mechanical drawings, perform calculations, calibrate, and maintain machinery. The candidate must possess analytical problem-solving skills to produce results that meet specification requirements.

    Core Duties and Responsibilities
    • Operates and maintains lathes and milling machines
    • Reviews drawings, instructions, blueprints, or samples to ensure accurate production.
    • Selects appropriate machine and settings for a given task.
    • Plans proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment.
    • Provides feedback to engineering for design improvements and product simplification.
    • Monitors operation and adjusts feed and other settings as necessary.
    • Checks output for quality assurance and documents or discards defects.
    • Identifies the need for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs.
    • Maintains a safe and clean workstation.
    • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
    Education and Experience
    • At least 5 years' experience in machine shop or completion of formal apprenticeship
    • Excellent manual dexterity, accuracy, and attention to detail
    • Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, mills etc.
    • Familiar with the use of calipers, micrometers, and other common metrology tools
    • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
    • Knowledge of metal properties and other materials
    • Possess mathematical skills and analytical abilities.
    • Great verbal and written communication skills
    Pay Rate:

    $ $28.00
