    Description

    Spencer Ogden is currently supporting one of the leading US independent solar energy and energy storage owner-operators find a Project Engineer to join their hybrid team in Boca Raton, Florida. Relocation assistance will be offered.

    Role Summary:

    As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for:

    • Reviewing engineering drawing packages (Electrical, Civil, Structural, Communications) at various stages (30%, 90%, As-built/IFC).
    • Examining technical documentation (EPC Contracts, equipment specifications, warranties, electrical and thermal studies) during due diligence and construction phases.
    • Analyzing critical project documentation including Geotech, ESA, Wetlands reports, Interconnection Agreements, System Impact studies, hydrology, and corrosion reports.
    • Performing Engineering calculations (NEC maximum system voltage, conductor sizing, overcurrent protection sizing, utility disconnect requirements, voltage drop, and conduit sizing).
    • Preparing value engineering assessments and risk analyses.
    • Designing optimized Solar PV systems including array layouts, DC string sizing, equipment layouts, and utility interconnections for various system types (rooftop, carport, ground mount).
    • Directing and interacting with third-party engineering providers and supervising their work in developing IFC drawing sets.
    • Reviewing and identifying discrepancies in Energy estimate modeling reports from PVSYST.
    • Supporting technical RFI and Change Order requests with technical evaluations.
    • Coordinating with equipment vendors on all technical matters related to key project equipment.
    • Supporting the commissioning of newly built sites.
    • Enforcing installation quality and company standards in new installs.
    • Gathering technical lessons learned and updating/improving company Design Standards.
    • Developing and maintaining relationships with key equipment suppliers and regularly evaluating their product pipelines.
    • Identifying and evaluating technical enhancement opportunities in collaboration with Asset Management, Technical Operations, and other teams.
    • Supporting the Project Management Office (PMO) team in developing and improving technical processes.

    Ideal Candidate Profile:

    • 1-3 years of experience in Solar Engineering with a strong understanding of solar project technical characteristics
    • BSc Degree in Engineering required; Master's preferred.
    • Expert knowledge of renewable energy engineering documents.
    • Familiarity with key renewable energy document types: project agreements and permits.
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst, PlantPredict, Helioscope, Excel, Word, Smartsheet.
    • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask effectively.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and determination to complete challenging projects.
    • Proven ability to improve processes and create efficiencies.
    • High sense of professional ethics and commitment to quality.
    • Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
    • Effective communication with tact and diplomacy.
