- Own the high voltage qualification and certification of new-design, first of a kind superconducting transmission lines.
- Interface with and travel to third-party testing facilities to execute high-voltage test plans.
- Develop and execute comprehensive test strategies for component, subsystem, and system-level testing, including high-voltage electrical stress testing
- Troubleshoot electrical issues in a range of test stands for a variety of purposes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop test cases and procedures covering a range of operating conditions and use cases.
- Analyze test data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement in product performance and reliability.
- Prepare detailed test reports summarizing findings, conclusions, and recommendations for design enhancements or corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize testing processes, increase efficiency, and enhance the overall quality of transmission line system products.
- At least 5 years of related professional experience
- BS in Electrical Engineering
- Experience with Electrical Design of power equipment and electrical systems
- Proven experience in high voltage testing methodologies and equipment (e.g., AC/DC hipot testing, partial discharge testing).
- Familiarity with relevant national and international electrical standards (e.g., IEEE, UL).
- Strong understanding of electrical safety principles and practices (NFPA 70E).
- Proficiency in using electrical test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies).
- Knowledge of high voltage components (e.g., transformers, cables, insulators).
- MS in Electrical Engineering
- Experience with High Voltage Electrical Design of power equipment and electrical systems
- Experience working in or with high-voltage test facilities.
- Experience qualifying and/or certifying first-of-a-kind hardware or technology for high-voltage applications.
- Example industries include power transmission or generation utilities, testing laboratories,
- Experience with data acquisition and analysis software (e.g., LabVIEW, MATLAB).
- (Optional) Experience with building or modifying test fixtures for unique applications.
- 3 months: Ramped up on the understanding of VEIR's high-voltage components & conductor. Reviewed and contributed to VEIR's qualification test plan development for high voltage testing.
- 12 months: Established testing procedures and coordinated with necessary third-party testing facilities to begin qualifying VEIR's first-of-a-kind transmission line pilot system for high-voltage operation.
