    POSITION OVERVIEW


    The Surgical Technician functions as a vital member of the surgical team, supporting surgeons and nursing staff to ensure safe, efficient operative care.

    This role requires completion of academic and clinical training to function in the operating room and reports directly to a Registered Nurse (RN).

    Responsibilities may include inventory management and the distribution or delivery of medications as required.

    SHIFT DETAILS
    10 or 12 hour shifts
    Shift depends on need of the unit
    Mandatory on-call coverage for all emergent cases
    Call rotation currently 1 in 9 (subject to change based on staffing levels)

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
    Assist surgical team during operative procedures
    Prepare and maintain sterile fields
    Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments efficiently
    Assist with patient positioning and room setup
    Maintain surgical supplies and equipment
    Support inventory management and medication distribution as required
    Adhere to infection control and safety standards
    Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia, and nursing teams

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
    Graduate of a certified Surgical Technology program preferred (community college, vocational school, military program, or hospital-based program)
    Will consider Operating Room Technicians with documented on-the-job experience

    CERTIFICATIONS
    Certified Surgical Technician (CST) preferred
    Six contact hours of continuing education or three college credits annually related to the nursing field encouraged
