    Overview

    We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Software Quality Assurance Engineer for Pearson's Q-interactive product. The ideal candidate will be responsible for establishing and executing quality assurance and compliance processes for Q-interactive's web and mobile applications. You will work with development, testing and product teams to create, publish and execute software quality assurance plans to ensure the delivery of high caliber software applications. You will also conduct test planning, write test cases, and perform manual testing. You will define and track quality assurance metrics such as defects, test results, and test status. Finally, you will mentor other QA engineers within the project and be a leader in testing strategies.

    Working Location:

    Remote/Hybrid - Austin or San Antonio, Texas. Must be within commutable distance to attend meetings in office periodically.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Participate in daily stand ups and support delivery timelines and priorities.
    • Review and validate requirements and technical specifications.
    • Develop and execute test plans and detailed test cases based on requirements.
    • Document results; offer observations or improvements after analysis of test results and overall product quality.
    • Collaborate with the development team on bug fix verification and validation.
    • Support, design, develop, and enhance test processes and reporting of QA processes.
    • Perform manual tests and develop automated test scripts as needed for applications using defined standards and software engineering best practices.
    • Be a leader in testing and automation strategies.
    • Take ownership of problems and issues, and proactively work with the Agile Team and business stakeholders.
    • Mentor other QA engineers.

    Essential Skills

    • At least 5+ years quality assurance experience in an agile development environment.
    • Experience with agile software development methodologies and Quality Assurance's role and responsibilities within it.
    • Experience utilizing automated testing framework tools such as Selenium, Appium, Postman, Arquilian, and Docker.
    • Experience with mobile (iOS) and web-based application testing.
    • Experience in UAT, regression, performance, systems and exploratory testing.
    • Familiarity with JIRA, Jenkins, GitHub, and other DevOps pipeline tools.
    • Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks and quickly adjust in a rapidly changing environment.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent.
    • 5-10 years of relevant project experience.

    Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the Colorado, California, Washington State, New York State and New York City laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:

    The minimum full-time salary range is between $100k - $110k.
