    TITLE:
    Principal Engineer II


    LOCATION:
    Greenwood Village, CO


    JOB SUMMARY: Identify & establish best practices & Charter standards for video control & encryption infrastructure involving video services. Drive consistent deployment of design standards across Charter's serving area. Set technical architecture & development direction across internal business applications, including leading cross functional technical development teams, delivering business critical projects, & overseeing operational activities. Support engineering activities that maintain & enhance Charter's video control plane & encryption systems, including Digital Addressable Controller, Network Encryptors, APEX QAMs, APEX Bulk Encryptors, OM, RPD, ARPD, Network Controllers, & Transaction Encryption Device. Integrate communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission, & signaling links & protocols into complete network configurations. Test new firmware, software, & hardware supporting video solutions. Develop & implement development standards, policies, procedures, & MOPs in conjunction with functional, performance, & business requirements provided by product &

    engineering teams for video control plane & encryption solutions. Evaluate, select, & deploy new test tools & automation frameworks. Study future technology developments & formulate associated testing strategies. Provide timely & accurate information & status updates to functional leaders. Define and understand technical roadmaps within Video Operations to ensure sound technical solutions & compliance with established technical solutions/architectures. Provide database support & maintenance using Unix & Linux. Develop software architecture &

    design including Firewall/ACL & AWS. Ensure projects are accurately estimated & delivered according to schedule. Implement video network related projects & resolve issues & design flaws. Provide day to day leadership, mentoring, & technical guidance to team members.

    Support systems integration including defining, configuring, & maintaining development environments, documenting fabrication, installation, & functionality issues, & integrating & testing systems using AWS; video encryption including analyzing transport stream & troubleshooting VDCMs, Netcrypts, NE300 & NE2500; & project management including project initiation & planning, ensuring technical feasibility, resource allocation, & monitoring & tracking progress using Jira, Agile, & Remedy.

    Participate in development & implementation of standards, policies, & procedures.

    Utilize advanced knowledge of & experience with Video OTA acquisition/receivers & associated hardware, linear video edge devices, to include Harmonic NSG, CommScope Apex 3000/1000, Cisco RFGW & common cable CPE.


    Utilize knowledge of Audio Compression:

    Dolby AC3, Dolby Digital Plus, AAC; MPEG monitoring such as IQ, Telestream Sentry, or MTSAs; & Edge QAMs such as APEX1k-3k, NSGs.

    Support IP networking, TCP/IP protocols, Routing & Switching. Support Arris (DAC) or CISCO (DNCS) video delivery systems.


    Responsible for:

    assisting in design, development, & implementation of enterprise-wide OSS applications & associated operating systems & databases; & Application Administration of OSS applications supporting all Charter Divisions.

    Participate in full life-cycle of systems engineering activities of high-quality, scalable solutions. Perform software development duties to maintain stability of Charter's highly complicated video architecture applications & their performance & automation. Resolve video issues & maintain stability of video application platforms & system architectures. Deploy new software & server upgrades. Develop mechanism to minimize future system outages & downtime.


    Responsible for:

    understanding software applications & system architectures, troubleshooting issues, & performing root cause analysis for video applications system; & developing comprehensive solutions for issues relating to software performance & will mitigate system outages for Charter's flagship app, Spectrum Guide.


    EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Digital Sciences or a related field.


    4 years of experience in:

    database support and maintenance using Unix and Linux; developing software architecture and design including Firewall/ACL and AWS; systems integration including defining, configuring, and maintaining development environments, documenting fabrication, installation, and functionality issues, and integrating and testing systems using AWS; video encryption including analyzing transport stream and troubleshooting VDCMs, Netcrypts, NE300 and NE2500; and project management including project initiation and planning, ensuring technical feasibility, resource allocation, and monitoring and tracking progress using Jira, Agile, and Remedy.

    Hybrid office and remote arrangement is available.

    The pay for this position has a salary range of
    $124,000 to
    $220,000. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.
