Job Summary:
The Department of Psychology invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor in Psychology.

Candidates must hold a Master's degree or higher in psychology or in a closely related field from an accredited institution.

Successful candidates may teach undergraduate or graduate psychology courses including:

• PSY 1000 Introduction to Psychology, PSY 2200 Research Methods, PSY 6345 Social Bases of Behavior, PSY 7605 Bio-Psycho-Social Understanding of Human Behavior, PSY 7800 History and Systems of Psychology, and PSY 7505 Professional Ethics in Health Services. Successful candidates will plan and supervise semester activities that meet course objectives, maintain records on and evaluate student performance, and assign grades, as well as attend regular faculty meetings.

Compensation:
$1,150 per credit hour - Doctorate

$1,050 Per credit hour- Master's


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master's degree or higher in psychology or in a closely related area from an accredited institution.

Desired Qualifications:

• Doctoral degree in Psychology or related field.
• Experience in clinical practice / applied psychology.
• Participation in original research in scientific psychology.
• Experience teaching university students in a diverse environment.

Other Qualifications:

• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship and relocation allowance is not available for this position.
• Report to work obligations to support the department and may require work during HPU's winter break, if necessary.
• Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with the Protection of Minors policy.
• Able to teach classes scheduled during days, evenings, and weekends.
• Able to teach classes at multiple locations on Oahu.
• Successful candidate will be able to work in an environment that utilize excellent time and stress management skills.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the Psychology Department. (95%)
• Meet deadlines and follow direction of the department chair.
• Develop a syllabus of course activities that meets the requirements of the course description, establishes appropriate student learning outcomes, and provides for appropriate class activities throughout the semester.
• Plan and deliver individual classes that conform to the syllabus and other requirements of the University.
• Maintain records on student participation and performance, evaluate student performance on the basis of established student learning outcomes, and assign grades.
• Submit required documents (including student grades) in a timely manner.
• Performs other related duties as assigned {5%)
• Actively participates as an effective member of team by completing assigned duties, accepting additional assignments or reassignments.
• Assists with seasonal peaks.
