- We are looking for a Lab Technician for a research lab in our company, located in Johnston, Iowa.
- With guidance from supervision, this person will assist technical personnel in general laboratory operations and routine laboratory or information handling tasks in support of scientific research.
- Perform tasks according to accepted methods and training prescribed by the team.
- Culture and process microbial strains.
- Extract total protein from bacteria and plant samples.
- Provide support in sample prep for whole genome sequencing.
- Maintain inventory of basic lab supplies and equipment.
- Maintain detailed biological sample inventory in the lab.
- Migrate inventory records into databases.
- In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in microbiology or other related science.
- Previous laboratory experience is preferred.
- Proficient knowledge of and experience in aseptic techniques.
- Very good organization skills.
- Other experience (Preferred but not required)
- Experience to work with BSL-2 microorganisms.
- Experience with molecular biology techniques.
- Experience in genomic DNA extraction from biological samples.
