    Responsibilities

    • Perform and Record Maintenance: Regularly maintain, calibrate, and perform quality control on all testing equipment and reagents.
    • Sample Preparation: Evaluate specimen suitability and label samples accurately for pre, post, and analytical processes.
    • Accurate Testing: Conduct tests following established procedures, considering patient history when reviewing results.
    • Troubleshooting and Consultation: Recognize unexpected lab values, troubleshoot issues, and consult with pathologists or caregivers.
    • Results Reporting: Report results promptly, prioritize workload, and notify caregivers of critical values as needed.
    • Instrument Management: Troubleshoot instrument and analyzer problems, document solutions, and ensure smooth hand-offs between shifts.
    • Customer Interaction: Address customer inquiries courteously, handle corrected reports, and follow department policies.
    • Training and Competency: Train new staff and students in technical areas, maintaining competency through continuing education and proficiency testing.

    Qualifications

    • Toxicology Experience: LC/MS equipment, procedures, and testing proficiency is essential.
    • Preferred Education: A Bachelors degree in medical lab sciences, chemistry, toxicology, biochemistry, or forensic science is preferred.
    • Clinical/Medical Lab Background: Prior clinical or medical lab experience is advantageous.
    • Minimum Requirement: An Associate degree in chemistry, toxicology, biochemistry, or forensic science is required.
