    Description
    The National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE) is a new Sleep Neurologist treatment center for military at Walter Reed. NICoE offers a holistic approach of treatment options for our nation's heroes to include Primary Care, Intensive Outpatient Programs, Computer based training tools to help patients learn & develop healthy brain habits, improving short term memory, focus and decision making skills
    This MD/DO is full time in an outpatient setting with no nights, weekends, federal holiday or on-call requirements

    Serves as a neurologist in Sleep Medicine responsible for the examination, diagnosis and treatment of the full range of outpatients seen in the clinic.

    The presence of multiple chronic conditions and a wide range of sleep and breathing disorders and diseases, complicated diagnoses and treatments, requiring the training and experience of a board certified specialist in Sleep Medicine.

    In an outpatient clinic the incumbent performs a wide range of medical duties covering all aspects of disorders involving Sleep Medicine that is of moderate to severe complexity.

    Makes diagnoses and prescribes appropriate treatments to include continuous positive airway pressure, bi-level airway pressure, oxygen, drugs or behavioral modalities.

    Provides chart, polysomnography, and multiple sleep latency testing review for quality assurance purposes in the area of Sleep Medicine as requested.

    Interprets and reports out results of polysomnograms and electroencephalograms, magnetic encephalography (MEG), olfactory testing, neuro-regenerative, and neuro-cognitive evaluations.
    Provides expert assessment and interpretation of polysomnography, multiple sleep latency, maintenance of wakefulness testing, actigraphy, and overnight oximetry.

    Serves as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in neurology in collaboration with clinicians in other medical specialties on cases involving complicated and multifaceted neurological and neuropsychiatric problems.

    Oversees and educates interdisciplinary teams responsible for testing and treating patients with neurological issues, ensuring that the highest standards of professional practice and ethics are maintained.

    Works in collaboration with interdisciplinary team consisting of clinic physicians and psychologists, neuroscience researchers, pharmacists, nurses, and professionals in various specialties.

    Continually fosters an interdisciplinary approach to care that relies on pattern recognition of physical, behavioral, social, and spiritual conditions.
