    OBJECTIVE: The Cost Accountant will be responsible for supporting our cross-functional teams managing AP/AR, budget and cost analysis, inventory management, and account management.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Estimates the cost of new and proposed products and services in the assigned departments, areas, or projects.
    • Analyzes changes to the products and services provided.
    • Gathers accounting documentation such as financial statements and journal entries.
    • Documents data and statistical procedures used in conducting cost analysis.
    • Determine standard costs and investigate variances with actual costs.
    • Prepare detailed reports, both periodically and ad-hoc
    • Conduct audits on construction financial processes and transactions.
    • Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and other vendors to negotiate favorable pricing and terms, ensuring cost-effective procurement of materials and services.
    • Work closely with project teams, including construction managers, engineers, coordinators, and procurement specialists, to align financial goals with project objective and facilitate effective decision-making.
    • Suggest cost-reducing or profitable solutions.
    • Evaluates potential problems and develops solutions as needed.
    • Assist in inventory valuation and reconciliation, including inventory costing, cycle counts, and physical inventory audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
    • Research material costs to ensure the accuracy of the information in the company's accounting system.
    • Ability to manage, support, and execute the construction draw process and bank relationship management.
    • Collaborates with department members on processes improvements and ways to develop efficiencies.
    • Provide timely and cordial interaction with supportive work groups such as Accounting, Maintenance, HR, Development, Building Supply, and other Construction team members, etc.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Requirements

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    REQUIRED:
    • Must have valid driver's license with reliable transportation to and from work.
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business or a combination or experience and education required.
    • At least three years of proved experience as a cost analyst, cost specialist or similar role.
    • Experience in data, operational, and financial analysis
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
    • Proficient with accounting software and processes.
    • Ability to make decisions and perform in ambiguous situations.
    • Possesses strong interpersonal skills, capable of maintaining professional relationships.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
    • Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and change direction to meet team, project and department needs.
    • Detail-orientation with a high degree of accuracy and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Knowledge of inventory management principles, standard costing, and variance analysis techniques.

    • Prior working experience in the construction field and general knowledge of construction processes and procedures.
    • Experience with process improvement initiatives, cost optimization projects, or financial system implementations is a plus.
    PREFERRED:
    • Sage experience ideal.
    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Clear speaking and adequate hearing sufficient to communicate effectively and respond appropriately in-person and/or on the telephone
    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

    This position requires the ability to work 45-50 hours per week during normal business hours Monday - Friday. Occasional travel may be required for this position.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT: The majority of this position is in a professional office setting, working with project teams and all levels of Company personnel.
