    Description


    Air Liquide Large Industries provides our customers with industrial gas and energy solutions that are vital to their own industrial production.

    We own and operate over 2,000 miles of industrial gas pipelines in the U.S.

    supplying mainly oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen and syngas in large quantities from multiple production sources to major customers in the chemicals, petrochemicals, refining and steel industries.

    Our pipeline operations and industrial gas production facilities are closely monitored 24/7 within our leading-edge operations control center located in Houston, Texas.

    Our operations control group monitors over 89,000 data points and assists with product supply and coordination.

    We are constantly optimizing our supply network to provide high reliability and energy efficiencies allowing Air Liquide to adjust supply needs more quickly and effectively enabling growth to our customers.

    How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?The Production Engineer is responsible for day to day operations, troubleshooting, management of change (MOC), environmental reporting and troubleshooting.

    The position is typically a developmental position leading to plant management at this or another Air Liquide facility.

    Health, Safety, Environmental and Regulatory ComplianceProvide visible HSE leadership to site technicians and actively champion the Life Critical Safety system (LCS).Meet or exceed company safety standards.

    Support and comply with all health, safety, and environmental procedures as directed by local and corporate personnel and safety departments.

    Support and comply with all process safety management and risk management plan practices (EIS, PSM, MOC, etc)Maintain required regulatory documentation (ISO documentation, PSM, RMP, MOC, etc)Support, coordinate and manage the operating permit reporting, monitoring, and renewal requirements to insure compliance with federal, state and local rules and regulations.

    Provide all regulatory training and maintain documentation of training of the production technicians.
    Ensure all incidents are reported and investigated and corrective actions are completed.
    Keep plant hazard analysis current and displays thorough knowledge of possible hazards and associated safeguards.

    Leader in site Safe Work Permit (SWP) and Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) ProgramsOperates the Plant Safely, Reliably, and EfficientlyPerform process troubleshooting.

    Leads plant MOC development and implementationOwn Key Operating Documents. Maintain updated red-lines at all times. Display detailed understanding of content and significance of each document.
    Ensure GT's are understood and followed by the plant staff.
    Ensure operating procedures are followed and updated as needed.
    Ensure operating rounds are completed each shift consistently and actions are taken as required.
    Make plant and process decisions to meet plant production needs.

    Identify and recommend process changes to improve plant HSE, reliability and efficiencyDevelop capital project scope, cost, and schedule as assignedPartner with the Reliability Center to execute predictive and preventive maintenance to eliminate catastrophic failures and unplanned maintenance.

    Set and maintain high housekeeping standards.
    Implement plant projects, as required, to improve plant HSE, reliability and efficiency.
    Acts as plant manager during their absence.
    Complete assigned action items from audits and other sources on time.
    Supports plant manager in implementation of any SIO goals or initiatives.
    Cost and BudgetUnderstand, monitor, and optimize operating costs within authorized budget.

    Assist in developing plant budget needsDevelop cost and economic justification for capital projectsExecute capital projects within time and budget requirementsIdentify and implement opportunities to reduce costs within delegated authorization.

    Continuously monitor and improve efficiency and availability.
    Develops and Leads PeopleWork to achieve our goal of "Zero Accidents" by taking a leadership role in safety.
    Assist with training new techniciansProvide candid constructive input to management decisions and actively supports those decisions.
    Insist on adherence to administrative and operational policies and procedures.
    Complete Personal Development System goals as defined in annual review.
    Interview candidates for open positions.


    Are you a MATCH?Skill Set/Knowledge/Expertise:
    Technical and working understanding of Hydrogen, Syngas or ASU plant processFamiliarity with regulatory requirements for operating plants (Process Safety Management, EPA regulations, state and local regulations)


    Ability to take part in root cause analysis investigationsFamiliarity with MS Office, Google Apps, Maximo and Oracle Cost Reporting, IntraPay, Oracle Purchasing, and TitanTrainable on Distributed Process Control (DCS) operation and troubleshooting.

    Able to deliver and explain training material to operating personnelOrganized and effective at time managementAble to maintain a plant filing system and control of engineering documentsAbility to read and red-line key operating documentsDisplay mechanical and electrical aptitude for equipment operation and troubleshootingStrong communication and team leadership skillsGeneral understanding of accounting principles and ability to learn plant operating budgetPhysical Requirements:
    Ability to work extended hours and shift work as business needs dictateOn call nights, weekends and holidays as requiredOccasional travel - typically 1 to 4 trips per yearEducation and Experience:Engineering degree plus 5-7 years process industry experience
