    About the Job:

    The Pharmacist is responsible for the acquisition, storage, preparation, and dispensing of medications and IV fluids. The Pharmacist reviews medication orders, enters them into the hospital computer system, prepares/checks and dispenses medication, monitors patient medication therapies, and provides drug information. The Pharmacist supervises Pharmacy support personnel, and in the absence of the Pharmacy Director, the Pharmacist may be required to perform the essential duties of the Pharmacy Director.

    Education / License /Certification:
    • Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy
    • Active, current license to practice in the state of Tennessee
    • Controlled substances registration
    Experience / Skills:
    • At least 1 year experience in a hospital setting - working with all age groups
    • Working knowledge of hospital pharmacy systems including experience with sterile products preparation, pharmacy automated devices, computerized order entry, medication regimen review and consultation, and formulary management
    • Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to meet the needs of all customer groups
    • Concentration and attention to detail- often under time pressures
    • Repetitive use of hands and fingers
