    Description

    Position: Data Center Services Technician

    Company Overview: Leading technology company specializing in data center solutions.

    Essential Skills:

    • Exceptional organizational and communication abilities (written and verbal).
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Exchange), SharePoint, Teams, and Visio.
    • Capability to lift 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
    • Familiarity with IT equipment such as servers, network switches, storage, and cabinets.
    • Strong understanding of data center environments, network protocols, and disaster recovery.

    Role Description:

    General Responsibilities:

    • Accompany vendors and clients within secure areas following security protocols.
    • Interact with requestors through various communication channels.
    • Provide technical supervision during escort activities.
    • Demonstrate effective English communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Assist management in incident communication and escalations.

    Site Entry:

    • Review and authorize data center access requests.
    • Coordinate with external service providers.
    • Conduct visitor screening procedures in adherence to security guidelines.

    Documentation and Reporting Duties:

    • Create and update site-specific documentation.
    • Generate ad hoc reports and contribute to projects.
    • Maintain daily logs and monitor activities in secure environments.

    Basic Data Center Support:

    • Aid in planning IT equipment installations and removals.
    • Participate in space layout design for data centers.
    • Complete required forms for hardware planning site inspections.

    Cable Troubleshooting and Maintenance:

    • Diagnose and fix system connections as necessary.
    • Test various cable types including copper, fiber, and DWDM.
    • Replace cables following established processes.
    • Verify network connections and trace cables when needed.
    • Perform cleaning and maintenance on fiber optic cable ends.
