Oversees the daily workflow, staffing, orientation, training and development of employees within the departmentResponsible for the ongoing quality/performance improvement processes related to the Emergency DepartmentFacilitates ED staff meetings and participates in other committees, task forces as assigned.
Promote and support a collaborative team approach in providing care for all ED patientsSupports and interprets policies, procedures, philosophy and objectives of the hospitalMonitors customer satisfaction scores and implements plans to improve themMonitor patient volumes, quality of care, and performance of staff to identify areas for improvementResponsible for investigating patient, physician and staff complaints and concerns and works to resolve themComplete annual performance evaluation for self and employees and implement plans of correction when neededUse problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with team membersMaintain required competencies for self and all employees within the departmentPrepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
Collaborates with other members of the nursing management team to develop, revise, or implement standards of care, standards of practice, and policies and procedures.
Collaborates with Human Resources in the activities surrounding interviewing, hiring, counseling, evaluating and assessing competency of staff.Ensures documentation meets current standards and policies.
