    Benefits/PerksFlexible SchedulingCompetitive CompensationCareers Advancement Job SummaryThe Hospice Chaplain is a key member of the hospice care team, helping to coordinate and implement spiritual support activities that reflect the beliefs and values of clients and families.

    Responsibilities Perform spiritual assessments and risk assessments of complicating bereavement factorsAttend interdisciplinary team meetings and collaborate with team members to include spiritual needs in the plan of careRefer to or coordinate with local clergy as requested by the client and familyCoordinate care with other professionals to meet the emotional and psychological needs of the client and family Communicate effectively and respectfully with a diverse client population and co-workersAssist families with funeral and memorial services when indicatedHelp lead bereavement services for survivorsSubmit required documentation in a timely mannerThis position could include areas of Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Valencia County, and East Mountains.

    QualificationsPreferred training includes a bachelor's degree in religious studies or a related subject and a master's degree in theology, divinity or pastoral studies.

    Hospice chaplain certification is also a plus.

    Current CPR with BLS cardValid driver's license, at least state minimum auto insurance, and an operational vehiclePossess or obtain a good understanding of Federal, State, and local laws and regulatory guidelines governing hospice operationsGreat organization skills and an ability to work with minimal supervisionAbility to remain calm in emergency or crisis situations, and to be close to clients who may be actively dyingCommitment to adhere to professional boundariesComputer/Technology literacy and experience documenting on an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systemPhysical RequirementsDuties require extensive standing, walking, and sittingRequires lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or assistance with transferring patientsRequires frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouchingThe above statements are only meant to be a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by the employee in this job.
