    Job Summary

    What is the Opportunity?

    Prepare and review tax return compliance and tax provision tasks for RBC's US entities, with a focus on those entities with complex data requirements. Applies experience and seasoned knowledge, skills, and practices to perform a variety of assignments.

    What will you do?

    • Prepare and review federal, state and local income tax returns and supporting workpapers to comply with tax laws and regulations. This includes estimated tax payments and extensions.
    • Prepare and review monthly tax provision calculations including preparing quarterly Head Office reporting. This also includes preparing and reviewing income tax related sections within separate company audited financial statements and as well as responding to inquiries by external auditors.
    • Build, maintain and operate well engineered spreadsheets containing large data sets on a monthly or ad-hoc basis. This includes but is not limited to information used for state apportionment purposes, federal to state modifications and other data required for tax compliance and reporting processes.
    • Assist with tax audits and tax notices, including gathering information, and assembling responses to auditor inquiries.
    • Assist with special tax projects which may include amending tax returns due to audit settlements and other projects as assigned.
    • Professional development through seminars and trade publications to stay current with tax legislative changes and best practices.

    What do you need to succeed?

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting. CPA and/or advanced degree in tax or accounting is a plus.
    • Minimum 5 years taxation experience in a Big Four or other public accounting firm or equivalent industry experience. Financial institution background a plus.
    • Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
    • High level of competence in Microsoft Excel and with tax return software systems (OneSource RS preferred).
    • Minimum of 5 years experience with US federal corporate income tax returns and state and local income tax returns. Consolidated 1120 experience is a plus.
    • Experience with combined/unitary income tax returns and multi-state issues is a plus.
    • Competence working with source systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, TM1, Hyperion, Oracle, SAP) is a plus.
    • Experience with process improvement and process automation is a plus.

    The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $100,000 - $160,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate's experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
