    Job Description:


    The Highway Quality Assurance Manager for The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) has an essential role in the Materials and Research Division Aggregate Lab.

    The lab is responsible for quality assurance testing and approval of all our aggregate materials used in highway and bridge construction and maintenance activities.

    Pay range is $ $35.449 per hour. The pay rate may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints if approved.


    Job Duties:

    • Manage the day-to-day operation of the aggregate lab including performing complex testing on aggregate used in asphalt, concrete, structures, and as fill material.
    • Lead and train new NDOT/Consultant field technicians, and answer questions regarding sampling and testing procedures.
    • Review/input lab report results into AASHTOWare Project for reporting to field staff.
    • Coordinate all testing and equipment in the aggregate lab including NDOTs federal lab accreditation.
    • Review and approval of project finals.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    Requirements / Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications: High school education plus ten years experience related to agency function; or Bachelor's degree in geology or related field plus five years experience related to agency function; or Bachelor's degree in engineering plus four years experience related to agency function. Registration as a Professional Engineer in Nebraska is desirable and may substitute for two years experience.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Minimum qualification plus experience using AASHTOWare Project, OnBase, Google Earth, and Microsoft Office.

    Other:

    Valid driver's license, overnight travel may be required on occasion.

    KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES

    Ability to navigate and find critical information and specifications in project contracts as it pertains to aggregate testing. Basic knowledge of the Nebraska DOT standard specifications book, Materials Sampling Guide, and NDOT sampling checklists.
